I did not read the original trilogy recently, so it took me a little bit to remember who each character actually was (and which ones we were supposed to know already!). I thought the flashbacks helped fill in the blanks and made the first chunk of the book interesting. It stumbled a bit in the middle. The ending picked back up again but the whole book felt a bit like a setup to another book.

I love getting to revisit some of my favorite characters as we meet what are clearly our new subjects but I can't help but feel this book was too long with unneeded back story (most readers have already spent 3 books learning many of these characters and the magic system).
