Apparently this would make more sense if I did the Darker Shade of Magic trilogy first so we’ll come back to this!
adventurous medium-paced

“There is nowhere you go,” said the Antari to her prince, “that I cannot follow.”

Nessun altro mondo e nessun altro personaggio è come tutto quello che c’è tra queste pagine. Kell, Lila e tutti gli altri, siete la mia casetta di inchiostro, a presto

Just another knockout, set in a world where I continually want to know more.

If you love the original trilogy, skip this book. What’s a horrible disappointment. The excitement for continuing on with my favourite characters is lost completely because a story is being set around a bunch of new side characters I can’t stand. Case in point; if you wish the man character, Tess, would just fucking die already because you’re just so sick and tired of stupidity chapter after chapter, books not going well. I will scrub this book from my mind. It does not exist to me.

I never thought I'd be able to read about these characters again and I am so happy that I am able to. The only thing I didn't like about this book is that now that I've read it I have to wait so long for the next one. Fragile Threads opens up the story of A Darker Shade of Magic again, revisiting the old characters we know and love while throwing some new faces, and obstacles, into the mix. And boy it doesn't disappoint.

I've always loved Schwab's way of storytelling, especially in the Darker Shades books, and Fragile Threads follows in the same way. The new characters of Tes and Kosika help bring fresh eyes to the story while still continuing what was established in Shades. I fell in love with Tes's character and her abilities are honestly just so freaking cool. Every time Kosika's point of view starts, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The slow build of tension throughout the entire book had me on edge and rushing to get to the ending. Now that I've finished, I am on the edge of my seat for the next book. ESPECIALLY after that ending. Schwab does such a good job of including characters with so many different personalities that it really keeps you wondering who could be associated with the bad guys.

Easily would have been 5 stars with some editing and better pacing. But overall a great extension of the darker shades of magic series
