I'm not going to lie, I was unsure of this book at first. I might just not be hip enough to hang with the kids, as I'm still quite apprehensive about this whole influencer thing. I honestly don't understand how it works, or why people consume influencer content. I also am an avid gym-avoider.
I did however pick this up, and I am glad I did! The awkwardness of finding out your hot nemesis (who doesn't even know he is your nemesis) that you maybe made out with, is your new step... Cousin...? Maybe? It doesn't matter. It's weird, but in a funny and lighthearted way. Scott is funny and charismatic, Albus Doodledore is everything, and Crystal is, at times, heartbreakingly realistic.
Overall, a pretty great book!

Kinda cheesy but it kept me engaged so I guess it was good.
this book omg !! ~ i fucking loved scott!! this man Was>>
i do wish this book was dual pov though despite loving the one povness to it. i just wanted to see SCOTTS POV!!! I LOVED THE WHOLE POC & curvy fmc!!! although i sometimes get triggered by the idea of gym talk ~ i was okay with this book!! ~ i liked that the fmc whilst being a fitness influencer didnt make it seem like fitness was for everyone but instead put emphasis on self care !!!! as someone with body image issues and body dysmorphia ( and tw: an ed!!) this book really was amazing!!
the way she emphasised self care was >>
the way crystal awknowleged the gym isnt for everyone and didn’t make people feel bad for working out at home or for just going on walksz i loved that she mentioned reading or having a nice bubble bath as self care and i likes this book so much.
i wanted to give it 5 stars but the 3rd act breakup being so bad and insane and kinda annoying ~ made me give it 4. but this book is definitely one of my faves this 2024 !!!
i dont know why i was so unsure as to if id love this book!! i absolutely loved and devoured it !!!
omg SCOTT BEING A fireman too ~ thats such a sexy job!!!
SCOTT LITERALLY I FUCKING LOVE THIS MAN!!
i absolutely adore books where the fmc is curvy and the mmc does not make her lose weight or emphasise that . it absolutely pisses me off! SCOTT AND HER LITerally work out together and i find that adorable ~ i liked that crystal worked out for herself ~ not to just lose weight but because she actually loved it and it was her hobby!!
this book also shut down the idea that mid size / curvy people dont go the gym or exercise!! and it highlighted the idea that ( not everyone goes to the gym to
lose weight or get abs ~ that some people go to just exercise!!
as someone who is super self conscious and shy going the idea of going to gym is something that absolutely scares me !! but nonetheless i enjoyed this book alot
~ i love that amy lea / her character crystal also brung up the idea that what you eat doesnt = your weight !! for this crystal talked about her sister ( who is skinny ) ~ who does not eat super healthily yet is thin!!! ~ i like that she brought this up because it also shut down the idea that all plus size / curvy people eat super unhealthy .
i just fucking loved this book
~ i really loved that the fmc was not only curvy but also poc ( half chinese) i love seeing poc rep in books especially when written by poc authors .
i absolutely fucking loves this book and i loved the message it gave to the author!!
the way SCOTT LITERALLY REMINDED THIS GIRL SHE WAS HIS TYPE AND LOVED HER AND THAT SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL OMFG !!! this man !! u fuckinv love him
i absolutely loved this book and had such a fun time reading it!! i had this book since September/ october but this january i decided to prioritise some books that i wanted to finish/ read !! this month!! and this was one of them and i liked it alot !!!!
i adored their relationship!!!! and had so much fun would definitely recommend
one thing i disliked about this book was the 3rd act breakup it was so unnecessary!!! the miscommunication trope was used and i absolutely hated it!!!
that being said i enjoyed this book a

This is my first ever gym romance book and it was definitely something I would love to read again. The family aspect was one of my favourite parts of the book and it definitely set up future novels for side characters who I really enjoyed reading scenes about. I also enjoyed the honest commentary on Western beauty standards and the darker side of sharing yourself on social media as part of your profession and think this was really well handled.
Some of the terminology/phrasing used - e.g. "Gym Bro Zone", "awko-taco", "GIF wars" was difficult to read - as a 25 year old myself, I struggled to imagine someone saying these sort of things at a similar age as me and consequently struggled to connect with Crystal and Scott. It felt more teenage vocabulary to me.
I also felt the relationship development was rushed and didn't really develop as an enemies-t0-lovers as I wanted it to. At first Scott seemed extremely rude and then they seemed to just fall into a natural rhythm without any actual slow build, and relied on a lot of miscommunication to create seemingly unnecessary angst. However, this may just be my personal preference in romance books as I enjoy more of a slow burn rather than an insta-love so this may be perfect for other readers.
Overall this is a promising debut novel by Amy Lea and I look forward to (hopefully) spinoffs of some of the side characters that I enjoyed seeing!

Waah this was cute, Scott was adorable!! And I loved how confident within herself Crystal was! She wasn’t negative about her weight or constantly putting herself down, she had her days but she worked through them without all the negativity. I loved the back and forth banter with Scott and how protective he became. Towards the end made me sad reading how toxic social media can be towards people and it hurt my heart seeing how massively it knocked her confidence. Was such a cute easy read.
