This felt a bit more somber for a YA graphic novel, not quite the level of Sheets, closer to Heartstopper level. I really enjoyed the characters and their natural chemistry.

The premise is cute and the characters likable but I’m not sure if it really goes deep enough into the story and problems…

The hockey coach is also 100% trash and shouldn’t be allowed to be around children. She was in the locker room watching one of her players bully another, didn’t do anything about it, and then blamed the victim, 

It was a rushed ending that really didn’t fully conclude much. Alix stands up to her bully in the second to last scene and says she’s gonna switch teams, then goes outside, finds her boyfriend, pukes, and then they walk into the sunset. Then one last NHL hockey game watch with the rest of the theater kids.

I did appreciate Alix calling out her teammates for also just be silent observers to her abuse. 

A lot of it just felt a bit like surface level fixes…kind of shallow and not deep.

A nice story of building relationships and what that can do to the ones around you. I don't know if hickey girl fully solved her problems but the solution was worth it. Nice references to theater and Canadian things.
