I love the artwork and the highlight of blue in the otherwise black and white comic panels. I thought this graphic novel did a great job of exploring handling extreme emotions, standing by up for yourself, finding love, and following your passion. Some of the heart to hearts with the parents were a little cheesy, but necessary in terms of seeing more of those positive parent interactions in books for teens.

Hmm... Okay I Loved everything regarding the discussion of sexuality and sticking up for yourself. I even enjoyed the hockey parts! But there were a lot of... dramatic things that felt like they were added just to be dramatic then were just resolved as quickly. It felt unfocused if that makes sense.

This was a fun story but nothing shocking. The art was good. But I feel like there were a few times that it didn't convey time passing very well.
At the end where Alix is grounded, but then followed up with her hanging out with Ezra after a hockey game. And how immediately after that the group is at a hockey game.

On top of that there was a lot left unfinished. Like how well the play went, and if Alix reached out to her dad anymore.
Ezra was also pretty heavy handed in explaining things, to the point it didn't sound like teenagers.

This is a great book to read, especially if you're borrowing from your local library.

I really enjoyed this book. The character development was fantastic and I loved having a main character that did not have a labeled sexuality. I had never seen that before and felt represented.
