I love Moon so much, he's such an idiot, they all love him SO MUCH and he just can't believe it. I love it. I love how Martha Wells writes characters. 

I also love how Martha Wells writes...everything? Settings and descriptions that are lush and vivid; plots and conflicts that grow up from each other, building on past conflicts in ever-increasing tension until it snaps into beautiful resolutions; characters who you love, no matter what. I am deeply enjoying this whole series, but this book in particular was a gorgeous master class in character, building conflict, and trust. Trust between the characters and trust between the author and the reader. I love it.

This one hits right in the feels. I about cried for Moon.

All his dreams come crashing down when he is faced with a situation that hits all his insecurities. He mans up and moves forward even when deeply hurt. I love when we find out that Jade is just as insecure as he is about private things :) and how Stone and Malachite give them a hard time about their naivete.

I love those private conversations, the teasing from others, ducking or being cuffed in the head, kept in line. And Stone, how he came for his boy.

The only thing I would say wasn't as believable is that Moon went too fast from deep despair to oh, well lets help them fight the Fell. But the adventure is fantastic, the imagination ignites.

What a satisfying wrap up to this terrific series! The Siren Depths was also the best in the series, it explored in depth the culture, psychology, socio-politic in and between the Raksura courts. And we also got addition of new characters which was splendid, especially Malachite that was even way cooler than Stone! Wells finally gave much expected answers about Fells and their seemingly contradictory sophisticated crossbreeding invention with their parasitic-animalistic nature. The greatest strength of this series was the creative, outlandish, amazing world-building that was never ordinary or expected. The only thing that I found to be disappointing was the fact that no one died after that many fights. Other than that, The Books of the Raksura was simply the definition of lots and lots of fun.
