WOW. What a read. Such a different, gut-wrenching perspective of a zombie apocalypse. Very well-written too with great characters and backstories.

I’d recommend this quick read to anyone and everyone!

This book is an interesting twist on the typical zombie tale. Unfortunately, I did not get interested in the characters and the story suffered from a case of Murphy’s Law.

I did NOT sign up for emotional horror.  Anyone who knows me, knows I actively avoid books dealing with depressing topics and emotional trauma. That being said, this book was not for me.  Had I known it’d be sad, I would’ve never picked it up.  The writing was excellent and the gore factor was still there since it’s a zombie book.  But this book left me feeling empty and sad and needing a hug.  I don’t find being sad entertaining. 😆 I will say, there’s some pretty rad art sprinkled throughout the book that I really loved, though.  Don’t let me review deter you though, this book is is pretty popular and well-loved!

Who doesn't love a good zombie book. I know I do. Yet, it has been a little while since I have read one. This is how you write a zombie book.

Step One: Engage the reader and establish a relationship with the characters including the zombies.

Step Two: Create a good storyline.

Step Three: Turn the zombies loose into blood thirsty creatures that leaves everyone fighting for their lives after they cared for the zombies. As the saying goes "Don't bite the hand that feeds you."

Emily is a fighter. Plus, she is kind. Someone that I could connect with. Although, I can't forget Mama Metcalf. She brought comedic relief and kept the story entertaining. The flashbacks to Emily's past played just as an important part as the present. The authors did a very good job of providing a smooth transfer between the past and the present. The last third of the story is where the action went down with the big battle for survival. Which by the way the ending was a great one. Nothing worse than reading a book to get a weak ending.

very emotional you really get invested in the characters. nice take on zombies and how it's the humane way to treat people who have been infected.
