Disappointing. I was looking forward to reading about Anne of Green Gables after hearing so many fans speak of her. But this book only has two chapters from two different “Anne” books (which is very strange…jumping into the middle of a book and reading about characters that You don’t know). The rest of the book consists of short stories and reads very much like an old readers digest. These short stories were meant to be published in magazines as uplifting moral encouragement. I found them trite, predictable and monotonous.

Christmas With Anne is a sweet and cheerful collection of short stories by L.M. Montgomery. The title is misleading however, as only one story includes Anne, and it is simply a chapter from Anne of Green Gables. I don't mind though; revisiting Anne is always a treat, and all of the stories had the same style and morals. I had read a couple of the stories before, in a different Christmas collection, but most were new to me. Some of the story plots were recycled, but there's just something so endearing about L.M. Montgomery's writing.

I enjoyed these short stories by LM Montgomery but I think I was expecting something different when I picked it up. Maybe a little more Anne. But it was a quick read and most of these stories were published in magazines around Christmas time & so they have a feel good quality about them with a little moral. Perfect Christmas book if you want a Christmas story and don’t have very much time.
