Mostly a good example of the genre, let down by a pretty weak ending.

Absolutely topping!

The mystery was second rate, but the characters were a delight. Definitely going to check out the rest of the Daisy Dalrymple series.

Fun British cozy mystery sent after WW1. Likeable characters and lots of period color.

I like Daisy, she is not your typicle British busybody.

A bit slow getting started (the dead body doesn't turn up until the end of Chapter 3) but I really enjoyed it. The characters are great and I'm looking forward to following Daisy in the rest of the series.

Okay. Went on a little long. I could see the end coming.

Loved it! All that what-ho and pip-pip! Can see myself becoming a Daisy Dalrymple addict.

I didn't find the book particularly compelling as a country house mystery; the murder wasn't resolved particularly cleverly not was there any narrative tension surrounding the reveal of whodunnit. The historical part was quite well done, with broad historical accuracy so it was nice that that didn't take me out of the story.
The ending was somewhat egregious in my opinion
leaning on class and power to avoid any consequences despite the established views of Lord Went water. Daisy's plan wasn't even clever to fix every thing
