The best of the LoD books imo! I loved Thanatos and how sweet and protective he became towards Regan.

I don't know how to rate this book. It took me quite a long time to get into it. Usually, these kinds of things take me a day or two to power through, and they're really entertaining... but I had a serious mental block with this one, given the way Thanatos and his love interest began their supremely fucked up relationship. I didn't see how the two could turn things around because there was nothing but abuse going on between them--abuse that began in the book before this one.

SpoilerI very much dislike how the rape (because that's what it fucking was) was excused away on the wine they'd been drugged with. It felt like a cop out to me, a brushing aside of an insanely serious and triggering topic. And what followed--the Münchhausen Syndrome they both sort of suffered at the other's hands... I still waffle on whether or not the book redeemed them by the end of it.

It's sad that I'm so lukewarm on this book, because even in the very first novel in this series, Thanatos was my favorite of the Horsemen. Ione, in my opinion, did him dirty. And I'm just not convinced everything's all hunky-dory now that his story has finished.

This is a generous 3 stars from me. And most of those points were earned not by the 2 main characters but by the plot and the other stuff that went down in the novel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

OK. So now we have Thanatos and Regan’s story. I had a lot of issues with this paring as I spoke about in my review of Imortal Rider. I still had those same rapey issues in the back of my mind going into Lethal Rider. Its obvious that the rapey-ness of their pairing wasn’t rapey at all to our hero and heroine. I disagree, but decided to just suspend my disbelief and just see where their story goes. I have to say that by the end, I was hooked.

I was just really invested in the characters. There were so many moments where I felt as the characters felt. Like, if I get teary at a sad scene, it means I’m connected to the characters and care about their outcome. I definitely got a little misty eyed at certain points. So it was nice to be pleasantly surprised.

As for the smut (because I know you want to know how it was!) it was fair. Pretty average stuff here. Not amazing but not boring either. Actually, there wasn’t really a lot of it in here. Mainly because of the whole apocalypse thing and everyone being super busy and not really having the time for some sexy fun. Also, its pregnancy sex… which isn’t something I’ve read much of.

P.S. Harvester and Reaver maybe?

P.P.S. I still think Reaver is the father of the Horsemen.

4 stars - It was really good

After months of being trapped by his siblings, Thanatos is finally free. He is determined to get revenge against Regan, The Aegis slayer who betrayed him. What he doesn’t expect is to find her pregnant with his child, who is also the key to breaking his seal.

Thanatos is probably my favorite horseman. He is smart, kind, and also ruthless. I really loved getting to know him more. I loved how he instantly embraced the idea of being a father and went out of his way to make sure Regan had what she needed. He took care of her, even when he was extremely angry at her, which he had every right to be.

I have mixed feelings about Regan. She did a terrible thing to Thanatos when she betrayed him. She does apologize but it doesn’t change the fact she basically raped him. I also didn’t like that she was so determined to pass her son off to someone else to raise because that is what the Aegis wanted. She just was very naive towards The Aegis, which was surprising considering how they treated her.

While I really enjoyed this book, I still feel bad for Thanatos. His siblings imprisoned him for months. While he does show his anger at them briefly in the beginning, I feel like this was never fully addressed between them. On top of that, he also was dealing with Regan’s betrayal, his impending fatherhood, and stopping Pestilence. It was just a lot of Than to deal with and I feel like some issues didn’t get fully worked out, but I still enjoyed it.

Like I said, a lot happens in this book but the horsemen do finally bring down Pestilence. It was definitely not the ending I expected, especially for Pestilence, but I am very interested in seeing how they deal with the fall out in the next book.

I loved this book sooo much. I don't read a lot of books where the one of the main character's is pregnant. Especially an urban fantasy/paranormal romance type setting.I really enjoyed it and didn't think it hinder the book at all since I was concerned about that. I thought this whole book moved along very well and I only compliant was that it ended and there is only one book left in the series. At the beginning with the he did/ she did started I thought that would get in the way of the story but it settled out nicely and it was a good love story for my favorite horseman. This book just kept up the intensity that Larissa Ione has been building not only for the Horseman books but all the way bake to the start of her Demonica series. They keep getting better with an even more powerful story. I think the biggest concern is how are we supposed to react to Reseph we his book comes out. Is anyone else dying to know whats going to happen with Harvester and Reaver or does everyone know already.

They just keep getting better and better! This is MY kind of paranormal romance--lots and lots of action and super hot and sexy! As always, Larissa Ione is a genius and as long as she keeps turning them out, I'll keep buying them! This and her Demonica series are two of my absolute faves!

Loved every minute, though my heart did stop a couple of times. Fortunately I had faith and powered through. Can not wait for the next one!
