The Wrong Game

DNF at 3% (didn't even finish the prologue). Stayed with the cheating husband just because he had cancer.

This was a little more emotional than I expected, but in a good way.

Gemma’s been hurt and on the advice of her best friend, she decides to use her Bears season tickets to meet guys for no-strings sex. Zack is the bartender who overheard the two hatch this plan and offers to be Gemma’s “practice” round. One thing leads to another, and…HEA.

I enjoyed this, I think more than I expected to. It was fun and a bit different and the characters were interesting enough. And, the conflict felt realistic. So often, I read a book where one of the MCs is afraid of love for no reason, or a stupid reason. Not the case here.

Love the MMC, FMC needs therapy (respectfully)

This book had some heavy themes (in the characters' pasts), but for the most part, we dont get bogged down in it.
Gemma's past relationship deeply scarred her, so she no longer believes in love and chooses to be alone. Her friend convinces her to at least "hang out" with some guys to possibly have a few one-night stands. Since Gemma has season tickets to the Bears, she uses that as her selling point. I loved the concept of bringing a new date to each football game.
However, we dont get MUCH of that before, enter Zach, the charming bartender and fellow Bears fan, who volunteers as tribute to be her first "practice date."
And what a date he is! I adored Zach. He has his own baggage, but he's worked through things and is pretty emotionally healthy.
I know it's part of a book to have some drama, but i had problems with the number of times Gemma decides to call it quits on the whole thing because she's feeling overwhelmed by things being good with Zach. I get that she has things to work through, but 3 strikes might have convinced me (as Zach) to let it go. I wish she'd go to counseling like her bff suggested.
Gemma's bestie, Belle, is a great friend, and I look forward to reading her book.

So I truly loved the beginning, the heartbreak, best friend, witty banter. Hot guy and of course football!!! But I think Zach was a little too sweet for me.And it got cheesy very fast for me. It was a cute read. Written well.

i think it’s just time to admit that these romance books are not for me?! i vibe for the first like half but then once then the sex scenes come and i’m over. i guess i like the flirting lolol

but it was the orgasm right as they scored a touchdown and the line “i ate her p*ssy like it was a four-course meal this time” that icked me out
