So I downloaded TikTok. This book came up on the ‘Booktok Recommendations’ so many times, I thought to myself ‘why not’? People are really selling it on the media.
Umm, I don’t know. I just didn’t care for this one. The book begins with Gemma finding out her husband is cheating on her and she’s about to confront him- instead, he turns the tables and tells her he’s dying and has cancer. So she stays with him throughout this. ONLY TO SEE THE MISTRESS AT THE FUNERAL AS WELL. This storyline infuriated me, especially towards the end of the book, and I felt there was no closure for Gemma with this plotline. She signs up for a dating app, goes to a football game with her date Zach. Zach is lovely- a sweetheart, romantic, strong yet caring man. I really enjoyed his character and felt so frustrated for him with Gemma. The biggest flaw is Gemma constantly thinking that all men are like her dead husband, and refusing to talk to someone or move on from this, which results in a lot of time wasted in the book.
This book just draaaaaaaaagged on and on for me sadly. The back and forth attitude and the way Gemma treated Zach only for him to keep coming back to her was just awful on both ends, and I started to resent them both. Additionally, there were several significant SPG errors which altered the meaning of the sentences entirely.
It’s safe to say that in the future, I will be wary of the TikTok book sensations- might stick to Amazon or Goodreads instead!

Ugh, I don’t really care, and I read a lot of mixed reviews.😔
it was good
It was a good book. I wouldn’t have been able to keep that secret.
But as a Packer fan I can’t offer anymore stars than 3.
Love kandi’s other books!!

The wrong Game does not hit the right spot for me. The plot is interesting and have a lot of potential. But the writing and the banter is off.
I do not feel any chemistry with the characters.

This was a cute story with interesting characters that live in a well thought out world that the author created. It was a unique premise, although with somewhat unbelievable situations. It was nice to see that each character had others that they could lean on.
Though not the most memorable book and somewhat predictable, it was an enjoyable listen and the narrators did a good job.

Sexy, angsty, and fun enemies to lovers sports romance
The Wrong Game is a new twist on the sports romance genre for me. It’s definitely sports romance, but neither of the main characters are active participants in a sport, and that just adds to the emotional complexity of this beautifully written story. I read a sneak peek of this book in an anthology, and had to have the rest! This is my first full length novel by this author, and I am honestly amazed! You couldn’t find two characters more deserving of an HEA than Gemma and Zach if you tried. The way the authentic emotions, the angst, and the drama are interwoven with the witty banter, laughter, fun, and the spicy and steamy moments is masterful. The book has all the feels, and will sweep you away from your own troubles for awhile. I couldn’t put the book down. I’m upset that I didn’t find this author years ago, and now I’m on a mission to search the backlist to see if Micah ever got a book!

This book had a lot of sweet, lovely moments but it felt a little one note in terms of the conflict. Certain things just kept happening over and over and over but I really enjoyed the conceit. It is lovely when the leading man is a decent human who falls first. A lovely read but a little long.
