I love a good sports romance and this one hooked me from the start. This book was angsty, emotional, and oh so romantic. Told in dual POV's with plenty of humor but also heartbreakingly painful moments. The characters were so fantastic and super lovable. I loved Gemma’s vulnerability, yet undeniable strength. She felt so real to me... She was flawed and fun and quirky, I loved everything about her. I also loved Zach, talk about a swoon worthy, dreamy, hunk of love. He was extremely observant, patient and understanding.... Zach is basically a unicorn and I’m in love with him. The chemistry between Zach and Gemma was undeniable and highly entertaining. Their banter is witty and snarky. And the sexual tension? SMOKINNNN!!! You could feel the heat coming off the pages. I highly recommend this book!! It took me on an emotional roller coaster. I laughed, I cried, and I swooned. I can't wait to read more book from Kandi Steiner!

Such a sweet read! The main characters had great chemistry!

I really liked this one overall, but it felt like the story was dragging on at points. I liked the basic story and direction, but it seemed like it was almost 2 books in one (part 1 and part 2) with how the story progressed. Still enjoyable, but not as strong as it could’ve been.
emotional funny lighthearted medium-paced

stop

Im in physical pain after this book. I don’t know if I’m just a bigger romantic than Zach or what but I absolutely loved every word in their story! I laughed and cried and cared about football for once in my life JUST for this book

I always love a cheesy romcom!!

2.5 honestly maybe a 3 if I am being generous. I loved the banter between Gemma and Belle I wanted more of it and I would have loved to see Belle end up with someone too. I thought that this would be different when it came to the internal conflict that Gemma was going through. I wish she would have confronted the mistress almost. But I loved the different storyline and how she met Zach. I thought all of that was so clever. I think the almost too-sweet epilogue and end just weren't for me and the immaturity of this game they were playing with each other. Plus it is just so obvious that the guy is fictional I don't think I have ever met a military, USA rules, football is my life, bartender, and feminist who is great to women GUY. But I guess that is why this is fiction! Overall still an easy read and different than my usual taste.

Touchdown.

How do you know your playing the right game? Simple. You dont..

After a devastating end to her marriage, Gemma is left alone & grappling.
Cue OCD & Anxiety. She though she was in control.

*Enter best friend stage right* I freaking loved this girl! Belle was everything a best friend is supposed to be. Pushing Gemma out of her zone to use her season pass to take a new guy every game to simply put. Get.Laid. of course thinking she can contort the out come Gemma does just that.

*Enter hotaf bartender stage left* With Zach there was no way Gemma was ready. He was the challenge her control desperately needed. The push to overcome the fears. And oh boy is he romantic as all hell! I don't think I've ever read a hero so intouch with his own emotions. Swoonworthy!

I loved this book because even when she was grappling for control & fighting herself to feel, in the end Gemma is stronger than she gives herself credit for.

Side note: I really wouldn't mind a Belle story & definitely a grown up Micah.

Playing for Keeps

This book got me good. I didn't think it was possible to connect to a story or characters as much as I did with Gemma and Zach. This book was so well written and the 2nd chance at romance hit me good. Thanks Amazon for recommending on my Kindle.
