I saw a promo ad for this one TikTok and have had it on by TBR for a while. I’m in the middle of a sports romance phase so this one immediately came to mind to pick up and I’m glad I did. Super cute, steamy fast read. It was my first sports romance where the guy wasn’t a athlete/player, but I loved the fan angle.

Just a side note but effing hated Gemma’s husband. Wtf he was the worst! Ugh, I was screaming and crying along with her.

The prologue had me HOOKED!!! I don't know how you could stop reading after that!! Gemma and Zach's story was so sweet an heartwarming!

Zach was incredible!! His love for love was absolutely adorable and the man knew how to pull off a grand gesture!! Gemma definitely had every reason to turn her back on love. She was hurt bad and just wanted to enjoy her season tickets to the Chicago Bears with a different man every game. But Zach had other ideas and made it super hard for her! They were so freaking cute and were fun and flirty together! The chemistry was amazing and all the side characters made me so happy! The HEA was hard fought and so worth it!!

My sweet, sweet Zach–I love him. Zach & Gemma have both been through so much pain, my heart hurt. I loved Zach from the start–his flirtiness, his confidence, his patience and persistence. Gemma was super relatable with her lists and plans. I loved Zach & Gemma together, watching them both come alive. My heart was so happy to see Gemma be loved and adored the way she deserves. This one brought quite a few tears and heartache, but also put all those broken pieces back together, and made me so happy. I loved this one.

Gemma’s plan is simple: invite a new guy to each home game using her season tickets for her favorite team. But after Zach gets his chance to be her practice round, he decides one game just isn’t enough.

I had such a fun time reading Gemma and Zach’s story but also the HEARTBREAK in this book was real. I had to set my kindle down at one point because I got so overwhelmed with anger towards one of the character 😂🫣 Gemma’s healing journey was so beautiful to watch and while I was internally yelling at her to give Zach a chance and just let go, I know that was borderline impossible for her after what she went through.
And ZAAAAAACH 🥹🥹 we love a hopeless romantic man in this house!! The way he showed Gemma she could trust him and him really SEEING her, had my heart soaring. This is the first book in a two book series and if the second book is about who I think it’s about, I already can’t wait to read it!! 🤭🤭

📌“Something I learned maybe well before I was supposed to is that trying to be what other people think you should be is a waste of time.”

📌“I love when you do that,” he whispered.
“Do what?”
“Exist.”

Zack is the MVP. Zack. Zack. Zack. Goodness, what a character. Loved every single page of him, from his big heart to his insecurities and how he handled his heartbreaking past. He deserved the world and Kandi gave it to him… after a little bit of work 😜

I also loved how football felt like a wholesome character in itself. But not from a player’s perspective. No. From ours, the fans, side. I loved it so much. And boy oh boy, that was a hard season 😬 as a Giants fan, I understand.

But I can’t — and won’t — end this without Belle. She’s my favorite. Why? Because she’s so complete. That’s how she felt for me. She was a friend but also her independent self. She moved the story forward but never took from our FMC. What a marvelous supporting character, Kandi. Thank you so much for her. I can’t wait to read her book.

Fun with a touch of angst, The Wrong Game is definitely the right pick for a good time 😎

The Wrong Game is a standalone romance by Kandi Steiner. It is grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity romance centered around the love of football.

Gemma is coming off a seemingly insurmountable heartbreak and is in no way ready to dive into a relationship. She might be ready for some fun though. Determined to put herself back out there in a way she is comfortable with, she's decided to put her Chicago Bears season tickets to good use and take a different guy to every home game. Enter Zach Bowen, her practice round. He enjoys his time with her a little too much to accept that she won’t be taking him to the rest of the games. Can Zach convince Gemma to give him a real shot? Or will Gemma’s past hurt rule her life forever?

The Wrong Game was an entertaining story focused on learning to trust again after immense heartache and stepping out of your comfort zone. Gemma has been through it and while her lists, rules, and rigidness may make you want to scream at times, the reasoning behind why she is that way is laid out beautifully and has you sympathizing and rooting for her until the end. Zach is an absolute dream, seeing past Gemma’s OCD to the incredible woman she is. He knows he wants a life with Gemma and isn’t afraid to risk it all and execute huge romantic gestures to win her over. This story is at times heartbreaking and will have you laughing out loud at the next turn. If you’re a contemporary romance lover then this book is certainly worth a read!

As a fan of football myself, I loved the concept of football game dates. This book was sweet and fun and a cast of lovable characters. I loved Zach's efforts in his pursuit of Gemma, even going to the lengths of enlisting her best friend and her season ticket seat neighbors. The pair had such natural chemistry and clear comfortability in each other from their first meeting. I think is perfect read for those football loving girlies. Thank you to the author and publisher for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
