Yes, I read this in one day. It is a straight up historical romance and I loved every page. The reason for the forced marriage, the strong heroine, and the handsome and capable hero were all believable. It was Campbell's ability to insert humor into Deirdre and Pagan's interactions was the cherry on top.

A fun, quick read that will satisfy your historical romance craving.

I liked the training and the fighting, but I had issues with Pagan's narrow-mindedness. I understood it, but it still irked me. I also really dislike when a male character says that the heroine is more complex than other females.

I really wasn't that impressed with this book. For Deirdre to be such a kick butt heroine by day and to be that scared of her marriage and bridegroom by night...it just didn't appeal to me. Not to mention that Pagan was not what I was expecting in a warrior of the times. He came across as too weak willed! Just didn't live up to the appeal of the cover for me, and I'll not be continuing with the series.

actually enjoyed the protagonist but the "love" plot line is manipulation, abuse, and all round disgusting. to call it love is disgusting. manipulating and coercing someone into sexual acts is assault.

I got this book as part of a bundle called "Kilts & Claymores" and I thought it was a good read. I enjoyed the story, the characters, and will probably seek out the other books in the series. I love when authors give just enough of other characters' stories to get you interested enough in continuing on with the series. I'm definitely interested in the other sister's story that ran parallel to this.

I really enjoyed this book. The tension between the main characters was really good. It wasnt draged on forever and it wasnt all just about the smutt. I've read books before were the tension last so long I get frustrated with the book or they just get right down to it through the whole book and there is no substance.
This book has great romance and I love strong female characters and how they eventually come together as equals instead of one always bending to the other. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in a strong female lead and a somewhat slowburn that's not over run with smutt. The intimate scenes in the book are pretty tasteful. I can be honest and say sometimes I like reading a book all about smutt and what not but I do love a good story with tasteful intimate moments between the characters and that's what this book has.

The only reason I'm giving a 4 star instead of a 5 is because I wasn't the biggest fan of the dialogue sometimes but other than that the book was great!
