Of the series, this is the one that haunts me in the best of ways. There's a particular passage towards the very end of the series that I think about often, largely for the yearning I experience by proxy. I would also say this is probably one of the ones that has better pacing compared to others in the series. I definitely want to see more of Antsy in the future!

This was hard because Seanan gave us a content warning right up front. So I skimmed the beginning of the book until Antsy went through a Door for the first time. I’m glad there was a warning but it didn’t make it easier to read, really. Otherwise, I liked a lot of the story.
I’m glad Antsy got to see her mom and choose her destiny in the end

This series is just so good. Please read the author's note at the beginning for content warnings. This one starts off very dark. I thought the metaphor for the shop which Antsy runs away to being a nexus to other worlds for children whom have experienced some kind of trauma/abuse and therefore have to grow up too fast was just perfection. I'll continue to read this series as long as Seanan writes more!
