After the unexpected death of his mother, Adrian finds himself tracking down the source of a spyglass she had obsessed over before she died. The search leads him all over Europe and the African coast with two siblings he never knew he had, as he strugglings with crippling anxiety, intrustive thoughts, and obsessive behaviors, hoping finding answers will help him let his mother go and find peace in his own life. Personally, was my least favorite of the series, mainly because I wanted so much more of the older characters like Percy and Sim, but it is a satisfying conclusion to the series as a whole.

Liked it.

Another Montague Sibling novel in the books! This one was challenging in a good way: it really helped get me into someone else's head and make their ailments more relatable. I was so happy the way both Monty and Felicity came into the picture. And the dynamic between the three of them...*chef kiss.* Is there no way we can go on an epic adventure with everyone's spouses too?!

As always, the dialog is my favorite part: quick, witty, and makes you smile. For me in this series, it's all about the characters, the plot can just mosey on as it does.

When I started reading this series, I had no idea how much I would come to deeply love these siblings. The reaction I had to reuniting with an older Monty and Felicity, and their loved ones, was much stronger than I expected. Each of them is unique, and each of their books feels fresh due to their narrative voices despite their adventures all involving love, adventure, ships, far off destinations, and a bit of magic. I remember I did struggle with Monty's perspective in his book at the start before he has some character growth, and I also struggled sometimes with Adrien, although for different reasons. If you have a hard time reading stories in the perspective of someone with severe anxiety, you may struggle as well. As with the previous books in the series, although the protagonist has blatant flaws and struggles, they feel reel and lovable and you get swept in with how invested in their well-being you become. I am eager to read more from this author and I'm so glad I picked up this series on a whim.

I enjoyed this, and loved how it caught up with the characters of the first two books. I really felt for the main character, who missed out on knowing his siblings and struggles with severe anxiety and intrusive thoughts. His mental illness is a big focus of the book due to its influence on his internal monologue, which we’re privy to. The central mystery is well handled—and there’s enough magic in the series that we can trust the main character’s experiences aren’t hallucinations.
