Still as terrible as the first time I read it...five years later.

This was great! I had heard of it before but it was mentioned in the previous book I read, 'Bette and Joan', Joan wanted a part in the film and what was said about it made me want to read it so there you go.

I now want to see the film starring Crawford, Davis and Gary Cooper except Warner never made it and the only film adaptation was in 1993 with Liam Neeson and Patricia Arquette. Words fail me.

I am disappointed. Book was still great though. I shall play the film, as it should have been, in my head.

This is a wonderfully depressing story about a romantic love that couldn't be.

A little depressing, a little maddening, unfortunately realistic. But I genuinely liked this and admired the writing because of all that.

I'm not an Edith Wharton fan, but I enjoyed this. Nice ending.
