I quite enjoyed this one and I do enjoy the humor and Julia Quinn’s writing.  I liked aspects of this Cinderella plot especially because it did feel different than the last two Bridgerton books and I think the class differences between the main characters added some layers. Lady Whistledown remains a highlight and I liked the focus on the female members of the Bridgerton household.
I also found the prison scene and conversation between Sophie and Araminta particularly interesting because I always like to understand a character’s motives, even if they’re wildly off base.
There’s still some dynamics that I don’t appreciate like the discussions around weight and size of some characters.

It started as a regular Cinderella story, which didn't really leave a good impression on me. Of course, they have their conflicts and all, and this is rather light compared to the second book, but the story isn't deep enough, I think. It focuses on romance alone, with simple moments that leading up their union.

Not a bad book, but I kinda expected something deeper. Kate and Anthony in the second book have past trauma which helped their character development, but for Benedict and Sophie, it's simply love at first sight and how Sophie is illegitimate. And since it's not a problem for Benedict, the "past" problem wasn't really that much. However, I must also say that it's a nice change of pace with the romance being lighter. It's easier to enjoy, and easier to finish as well.

It was... fine. They've all been fine. Regency England is fun to read about and the Bridgerton's are an extremely likable family to base a series of romances around, but like so many romance novels set in "high society," the men are all annoying and the women are basically passive. This is the third Bridgerton book and the third time I've felt this way.

I wouldn't have read this book if I wasn't trying to read the books in the series before watching their respective seasons on Netflix. It wasn't bad. Like, it didn't drag and I had a good enough time reading it, but it's ultimately deeply forgettable.
