It reads like a YA. The explanations for Kate being so involved in a court case against fellow schoolmates were flims and unrealistic.
4.5* I read the majority of this book during a power outage at my house, and was so engrossed in it, that I didn't realize it had come back on. This book has it all: mystery, romance, betrayal, friendship, sacrifice. The dynamics between the River Point Boys intrigued me throughout the whole book and kept me on my toes. Just when I thought I knew who killed Grant, I was proven wrong. The ending shocked me and I didn't see it coming at all. I loved Kate and Shep's relationship for it was so realistic and raw. You will not be disappointed by this book.

All good stories have one thing in common - they make you think about it even when you’re not reading it. That was the case with This is Our Story. The writing was so good that I thought I was there living every moment alongside Kate. Overall, I loved the book however felt like the ending was a bit rushed.
Oh. My. God. What a good book. It had me thinking it was multiple people and none of the people I guessed were correct, which is exactly what I like in a murder mystery. I wanted to just end the suspense but it was so worth it. I wasn't really expecting this book to blow me away, but it just became one of my favorite reads of this year.

This was such a fun read by Ashley Elston! She has become one of my automatic-read authors! I loved the setting and the premise of this book. It gave me similar vibes to Karen M. McManus, but I enjoyed it even more! It was entertaining to see the story unfold and watch the relationships between characters develop as more of the mystery was uncovered.
A well written story of how the actions of one affect the lives of many. Well developed characters and plot line. I found this a fairly believable story line, with several plot twists often leading the reader in the wrong direction of "who committed the crime". The author keeps the reader in suspense until close the the very end of the book. Having the thoughts of the guilty party written interspersed through the story gave the reader a different perspective as well as some foreshadowing of the storyline. A good read for high school.
I really like thrillers, but they are all just so bad. There are so many holes, and they just keep saying the same thing over and over without making any forward progress.
