This was a fun read! It kinda reminds me of those mystery shows my mom binges when she sews, and I tend to get sucked in with her time to time.
I won't lie, I did manage to guess the killer before the big reveal. Not immediately, because one of the boys was actively insisting he didn't do it, and it had me side-eyeing hard, but then I got it around the half way mark. It got real sluggish in the middle; I had to talk it out with myself til it finally picked up in the last third or so.
I still had fun with this, though. The killer's POV was interesting, and the interview transcripts between chapters really helped paint the whole picture together. The ones starring the random people who went to the party the night before the murder were the highlight for me.
The characters outside Kate, the boys, and (maybe) Mr. Stone were pretty two-dimensional. Kate had two other friends besides her bestie, and it didn't register with me that they were that until over half way through. Even the girls directly involved with the victim and mystery didn't serve much purpose outside their role; one of them isn't even named til page 280 or something.
Still, I had fun. This probably won't leave a lasting impact on me, but for now I can say I enjoyed reading it.

maybe i weirdly like YA Mysteries??? even though i normally dislike YA and dislike detective-solving-a-case mysteries???
this was honestly just really fun and entertaining and easy to fly through - it reminded me a bit of Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson.
the biggest thing that brought it down for me was.

Spoiler
the fact that when we found out who the killer was I really didn't care?? like I feel like we didnt actually learn much about the other characters besides Shep, Kate and Grant so I honestly didn't even remember who the character was when it was revealed loll

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this - it was well-paced and the mystery unfolded itself without giving too much away, but not leaving the reader completely clueless and frustrated. Kate was likable and felt like a pretty realistic teenager; I invested in her and her relationships, and the situations she found herself in never felt too far-fetched.
