This was a GREAT YA mystery!

3.75 stars.

This one was good, but it could have so, so much better... I think just changing the setting from high school to college would have made everything more interesting and, more importantly, more believable. I don't want to give too much away because, as usual with these books, not knowing anything beforehand is key to enjoy them. The story is a bit typical but very cool and intriguing, and the author manages the pace brilliantly. The thing that frustrated me and the main reason why I´m not rating this higher is that to keep the mystery going and the reader unaware of who the real killer is we are introduced to at least 3 side plots that are left completely unsolved once the big reveal is made - in a very anticlimactic way, I may add. So while this kept me entertained, in the end I cannot help to feel a bit disappointed.

For the life of me I couldn't figure out who the killer was, which made this book so enjoyable. I loved the twists, the main character was clever, and the dynamics between the characters were really complex. This was a quick read because it had me on the edge of my seat turning pages to find out whodunnit. I'll definitely be reading more by this author!

The first time I read this book, I gave it a 2 star rating; I don't think I particularly enjoyed it back then. Back when I first read this, I wasn't too much into mystery and crime novels. Of course, that all changed within the next year as now I'm literally a simp for detective/mystery/crime stories.

I think what I found most interesting about this book was how the perspective switched to the killer's perspective and displayed the transcripts of the interviews; it definitely felt like we were further unraveling the mystery alongside the protagonist, Kate.

I was pretty much hooked from the first page, and I read this book all in one sitting. I would definitely recommend this, especially to people who are trying to into reading more.

Also,
I just want to say:

This feels so rude, but I really did not vibe with this audiobook narrator. The accent she was using was very grating to me, and I did not feel like her voice was the right fit. In terms of the book itself, yeah, meh. Did not stand out to me as an exemplary YA mystery.

This was a strong contender for 5 stars until the main character started dating, which led to making silly decisions and mistakes. It also wrapped up way too nicely and easily (even for teen). I will say the audio edition really pushed it back into the 4 star category. Excellent narration and voice acting.
