Alyxandra Harvey has a hit with the Drake Chronicles.
Bleeding Hearts is the fourth novel in the Drake Chronicles (one of my many vampire-based book obsessions). Each book follows one of the Drake children and their adventures and romances. Each book seems to get better compared to the last - in character development, plot and story lines and the romances. It was really nice to see Alyxandra Harvey grow with each book that came out. Knowing that this series came to an end was truly heart breaking, even if this series came to a perfect end.
This book changes point of views throughout, which can be distracting if you aren't paying attention but I think it adds more to this novel. I liked seeing the different angles of the plot from each of the characters!
This wasn't my favourite book in the series (in fact, it was my least favourite) but it was still an excellent addition. Everyone has their favourite character (*cough* Quinn *cough*) and Conor and Christabel just weren't my favourite. They are still funny, fantastic and nerdy characters in this star line-up cast of characters and their story is absolutely delightful! They just don't measure up in my eyes to some of the others.
There are many nerdy references in here, and that touched my nerdy heart. It's always fun when you can actually understand the references - Star Wars, Firefly, etc.
Overall, this book is a recommended read from me. It's a cute, romantic vampire novel in an absolutely adorable series that I was and am still obsessed with. Hopefully in the near future I pick up Alyxandra's new books!
Five out of five stars.

Now that I have the latest book in the Drake Chronicles it has made me read these books a lot quicker although it wasn't as good as Out For Blood it's still a good book especially with it being so short I am able to read these books faster.
All the books in this series are the same but out of the ones that have been out already this one has to be my least favourite. This has to be because of the part that shine (not noticeable on this cover) just doesn't look as nice as the other as its dead plants or trees. Apart from that bit I really like this cover.
Alyxandra Harvey may be a fairly new author for me but it doesn't actually feel that way as I feel as though I have read loads of her books. Harvey sure knows how to write about some very beautiful and funny brothers and makes all her characters relatable which is probably why nearly everyone loves these books. Usually in these books she has short chapters but this time around they seemed a bit longer than usual but they wasn't too long so I was alright with that.
There was a lot going on in this book as there usually is but for some reason I couldn't quite get into it as much as I usually did. There was a few twists in this book that I didn't see coming especially the ending I am so glad I have the next book to read as otherwise that cliffhanger would have killed me. We was introduced to Connor Drake this time round but I must admit he wasn't as funny as Quinn but there was still some funny moments from Conner and some of the others but not quite as many as before.
As I said it was the turn of Conner and yes I did like him but I didn't love him as much as Quinn or Nicholas. We usually see him as the geeky one but we did see a more fiercer side to him as well as a sweet side to him. There was also another new female character in the form of Christabel who I think seems to be like her cousin Lucy but a bit more subdued. Talking of Lucy we went back to hearing her thoughts which I have missed because when we have Lucy we get Nicholas and I love there relationship between the two as there is some great banter but also a romantic side to them. There isn't a lot of Solange in this book but when we do see her she is very annoying and very different from the person we met in the first book.
Overall this book has a bit of everything for everyone a bit of humour, some action and of course some romance. Although it isn't my favourite book I still enjoyed it.

The Drake Chronicles is my favorite guilty pleasure series. I love the snarky, witty banter, the very hot Drake brothers, and the vampire mythos that Alyxandra Harvey has created. Each entry into the series is an engaging and entertaining read. I think Bleeding Hearts though is tied with book number one for my favorite in the series.
I loved that Lucy was back as one of the narrators. She continues to be my favorite character in the series, so it was great to get a peek into her world again. Reading Bleeding Hearts was like welcoming back my old friends and I was eager to read more about Lucy and Nicholas. (If Lucy ever breaks up with him, he's mine!:)
In addition to Lucy's narration, we also get narration from Lucy's cousin Christabel and Conner Drake. Of course romance ensues, because what would a book in the Drake Chronicles be without some romance? Conner and Christabel are adorable and I liked both of them immediatly. Christabel is always found with a book in her hand, she's read the classics hundreds of times, she quotes poetry and she's waiting for Mr. Darcy. Conner is a Sci-Fi and Fantasy geek who knows Firefly, Star Trek and Doctor Who trivia, who can easily fix computers, and loves comic books. Together they love all my favorite things so how could I not root for them?
There's a lot more than romance and Bleeding Hearts has plenty of twists and turns and surprises. Something strange is happening with Solange, there's a new tribe of vampires to deal with and Hel-Blar are on the loose. Lots of epic battles make this an action packed read. And that ending??? I need book five NOW!
Give this series to fans of vampire stories with a bit of snark and romance. Even if you're feeling a bit burned out on paranormal, give this series a try. Alyxandra Harvey successfully combines action and romance with a bit ohick-lit and a dash of mystery. Another fantastic entry into the series!
i love this series so much
but im so mad right now
talk about leaving a book with a massive cliff hanger >.

"I got that feeling again, like there was a layer under everything that I wasn't quite seeing."
Lucy’s cousin Christabel has just moved to Violet Hill. Being a new girl is seriously hard in a town full of vampires, and Christabel can't understand her aunt and uncle's curfew obsession. After all, how dangerous could a tiny, "backwards town in the middle of nowhere" be?
As it turns out, very. Not only are both Lucy's boyfriend and best friend vampires, the whole Drake family is too.
And it gets worse. Violet Hills is also overrun by the bad kinda vampire. The deadly, evil, dangerous, wild vampires, the Hel-Blar.
And no matter how bad Lucy wants to keep the Drakes secret hidden, there's no stopping the Hel-Blar.
Especially when they kidnap Christabel.
In Violet Hill, not knowing can be deadly...
Oh, how I adore this series! It's just so much fun, so awesome, so addictive, so good! I was in a tired-brain mood and suddenly had the most intense need to read Bleeding Hearts. The wonderful Alyxandra did not let me down! From the first page onwards I jumped from barely concealed hysterical laughter to gasps of shock to melty bones from yummy Drake boys. And I can't tell you how ridiculously overjoyed I was to find that Lucy was a narrator! Happy dance time!
I love the vamp stuff in this book, but what really makes this book series incredible is the characters. How unique and loveable and 3D they all are, how each Drake has a distinct uniqueness, how I feel like I know all of them so well they're my brothers or boyfriend or best friend. It's awesome. And, oh, Lucy Hamilton is just my favouritest person ever! She's so funny and mad and quirky and strong. Best Lucy quote: "I totally love this. Who can I punch next?"! I just love the new, fighting-genius, even-more-kickass-than-before Lucy! And her cousin Christabel was just as awesome. How can I not love a girl who's as addicted to books as I am? And you could so tell she was related to Lucy! "Thus, no boyfriend. Also, I use words like 'thus'." LOL! For such a poet-loving geek, she was a real badass! And Connor Drake? Oh so cute and geeky and hot – he’s my second favourite Drake boy! Nicholas is my absolute favourite – he’s just so darn yummy. I love him THIS MUCH! And he is the best book boyfriend in the history of ever. Solange, however, was being weird. Even by Drake standards. And more importantly, by Lucy standards, which is really saying something! Oh, and how I love all the minor-ish characters too! Fierce Helena, Lucy's friend Nathan, all of my other main characters from the previous books, Isabeau, Hunter and Quinn in particular! I adore Lucy's parents: they absolutely killed me! Her mom was awesome and so funny: leaving condoms everywhere!
But, damn Alyxandra Harvey for proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that fictional boys are a million times better than real ones!
No offence to real guys, of course. But you're just not Drakes.
I just love the writing and the split POVs. They all have their own unique voice - something of a minor miracle if you think of how many characters have narrated the books! The most awesome thing, though? Lucy's a narrator again! Yess! As for the plot? Well, pure awesomeness. I love the blend of romance and action, love how there's enough love stuff to make you fall for the guy hook, line and sinker, but not so much it takes away from the super-fast-paced and suspenseful plot. And, to add a cherry to the cake of awesomeness, the humour! But the ending? Worst. Cliffhanger. EVER! God, I am SO glad I have Blood Moon!
Y'know, I don't think I've read a vamp series that has me cracking up quite like this one. Sometimes, I laughed so hard I cried. But don't for a minute think that's the only think the Drake Chronicles has going for it, 'cause it isn't. This book was also spooky and gripping and twisty. It also has totally romantic kisses that turns your insides to mush! And while this may be the fourth in the series, Bleeding Hearts proves that the Drake Chronicles is just as addictive and amazing as it ever was. I love this series and am so glad it's untrue that I already have Blood Moon! Guys, if you haven't read this series yet PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Read it! It's pure awesomeness and my second favourite vampire series EVER! Actually, after this... Well, The Drake Chronicles may have to be bumped up to Spot One... Sorry Vampire Academy! It was just that good!

Just like the others in this series, I LOVED this book. The characters are extremly likeable for the most part and I found myself laughing on a number of occasions. While I adore Nicholas and Quinn, I have a soft spot for all the Drake brothers and can't wait to get to know the rest of them :)
prolly one of the best out of the series so far,the ending i did not see comming, can't wait fot the next one in june!!
okay im sorry but i am not reading these book. I read my love lies bleeding and thought it was marvelous i especially loved solange and kieran but from all the reviews its like there not in it anymore and reallly does every brother have to have a girlfriend which is amazing enough to have a book about it. Come on lucy's cousin i think that is super cliche. Also im sure that in real life not everyone you have a crush on loves you back i would love it if one of the brothers turned round and said you fugly get out ma face i dont ever want to go out with you. BUT no they always get what they want there soooo gonna get spoilt. Also why in gods name does it have to be her cousin im sorry i just cant get over how stupid an idea that isss god i think im gonna shoot myself. What a let down when my love lies bleeding was such a good book.
This books was amazing. It was at least as good as the previous book, Out For Blood, which is my favorite in The Drake Chronicles series. At first I wasn't sure I was going to like it because I didn't think Connor would be almost as amazing as Quinn, who is my favorite Drake brother. But Connor definitely gives Quinn a run for his money! Christabel, Lucy's cousin really fits into the story also! At first I kinda wished Chloe and Connor would end up together, although that might've been a little obvious. Christabel is way more awesome, with her love for poetry and novels. And she wears combat boots, which it totally cool! She and Connor are adorable together! The book was told from Connor, Christabel and Lucy's POV and I really liked that also. Lucy was hilarious as always. Hunter was in it several times too, but I have to say I missed her and Quinn in cute scenes together. There were some new characters. Christabel was one of them but there also was Saga and Aidan. I loved Aidan right away! Aidan Hawkfeather, such a lovely name! The book had a lot of unexpected turns too. Like Christabel turning into a vampire! So didn't see that coming. And I kept wondering what the hell was going on with Solange! I never really liked her but still... I didn't like the way she was acting, especially towards Kieran and Lucy! And who is Constantine?! Why is Solange so enthralled by him? The ending of the book was simply shocking! What happened to Kieran?! What did Solange do?! I hope he's okay... Cliffhangers are just a way for authors to torture their readers! I enjoyed this book so much I can't even describe my love for it. Alyxandra Harvey really did an excellent job, as always and I can't wait for the next one! 5 stars! ♥

And that's only because I like Lucy so much.
