This was my first — and last — Alex Cross novel. Isn’t this really just chick-lit for guys? Too many explosions and dead people for me, though the writing was engaging, most of the time. The rest of the time it was too detailed, and I found myself skimming paragraphs.

Still, it was a decent read when I had no access to anything else.

If you like Bond type plots or even "Mission Impossible" vibes, then this is your jam. For others, like me that only enjoyed some quotes and like 2 characters, this isn't the book for you.

This might be my last Alex Cross book after being a long time fan of the series. It had the usual themes you can count on from Cross books, but with a hint of erm...making me annoyed. The beginning was confusing with the amount of characters involved, the middle was slightly boring, and the ending wasn’t believable. Having recently read a Mitch Rapp book (another longtime series) recently, I can’t help but compare the two. Alex Cross just wasn’t as enjoyable.

May this review serve as a reminder in case I decide to jump back into this series again.

There is nobody like James Patterson's Alex Cross. This character is so well-written and well-developed through the years even John Corey (by Nelson DeMille) and Harry Bosch (by Michael Connelly) should consult Cross with their hard-to-solve cases.

Starting to wonder if I’m going to continue this series...this one was just meh. Again.

Meh. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good either. This is one of those books that makes me wonder why I’ve been reading this series for so long. 🤷🏾‍♀️ 2.5

Eh- I LOVE the Alex Cross series.... but the last few just seem to be phoned in. Lots of things going on- some to be answered in the next installment, but what was wrapped up was silly- seemingly thrown together and “solved” miraculously by AC (of course) . Disappointed. But the fact that I didn’t devour it in two days like others in this series made me realize that perhaps I need to take a break. Will read the series to the end- but maybe not dropping everything to read when the books come out. James Patterson- be better!!!

Not sure exactly how many stars to give this but it's either 3.5 or 4.

This book was okay. Not one of his greatest Alex Cross books. The way the last chapter ended was probably the most exciting thing in the book to me.
