1.5! Yeesh!!!! Not only was the storyline WAY too unbelievable to me! And then the reasoning behind the assassination....STUPID! Bitcoin....IS that even a thing anymore? Give me a break! Also...how many times is Ali Cross going to help Alex solve his crimes? Not impressed in the least and it is completely upsetting! Even the ending of this novel couldn't save it...just a cliff hanger ending to have me hanging on my seat for the next novel....UMMMMM....not that excited!
Definitely not my favorite Alex Cross book. The plot was all over the place and this was not a page-turner.

I've never read a James Patterson book before, despite him being a very prolific writer in the political thriller genre. I enjoyed this tale of a psychologist who gets involved with helping to solve multiple murders of politicians in high office. It's a very fast pace and this makes it a page turner. The story line was certainly key to the whole book - I found the characters likeable but fairly thinly drawn and any backstory a little perfunctory. It feels like there were a few loose ends - events were described that seemed significant but then amounted to nothing. However I think most other readers will have read one of these before and probably know what kind of book this is - it is a standalone exciting story.

So far, my favourite Alex Cross novel. It was fast paced and had me wondering what was going to happen the entire book. The ending was awesome! I love a good cliff hanger. Got so into it, a colleague startled me passing by as I was in the thick of the action. Recommend for anyone who watches cat and mouse shows (Criminals minds, SVU, etc.).
