Closer to 3.5 stars. I read this in a morning and it certainly held my attention. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out what was happening. The ending fell a little flat for me, I guess I just expected....more? It ended maybe too abruptly for me. I'm not sure. I did enjoy this and I do recommend it and others by this author.

The first time in a long while that I've been so engaged in a book that I can finish in three days. McMahon does a great job interweaving two timelines into one big shocking unexpected event. I enjoyed how there were chapters dedicated to certain character's thoughts and feelings.

Thankful a friend recommended this book to me. Now to read Jennifer McMahon's other books.

A fascinating mystery with a supernatural is there/isn't there twist.

I absolutely love stories that hop in time and are able to bring characters forward and back in history to weave a full picture. McMahon does a great job of keeping characterizations excellent and the story moving forward. I was unable to put this one down!

I couldn't stop reading! Creepy and great!

Terrifying. Excellent, but terrifying.

This one kept me guessing much more than I expected. I guessed at a few story lines that turned out ot be quite different. It was a nice surprise! I still have some questions scratching at the back of my mind, also, which is usually nice after finishing a book.

A side note - Cassandra Campbell narrated this book. She has a pleasant voice, and I've listened to several books she's narrated, but she has one of the most annoying speech patterns - she's the only person who can regularly put the "t" sound in 'pizza'. Not horrible, and the story was so strong that it overcame her pronunciation.

3.5 Stars

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would.

The book jumps between 3 time periods, the 19502, 1989 and the present day as well as several points of view. While this can sometimes be confusing the author did a great job in balancing these views and slowly unveiling the story that kept me interested the entire way through.

While I did see some of the twists coming, overall it was an enjoyable read and something different than my usual.

I was so looking forward to the haunted hotel spanning multiple generations story, and really enjoyed it until the strange supernatural part kicked in. That being said, I did enjoy it, the author is great, really handled bouncing back and forth between different time periods and different characters' POVs incredibly well. Looking forward to reading more by her.

Another fantastic Jennifer McMahon. This one was awesome truly, there were a few pieces that I guessed like a tiny bit before it was revealed, but it was just so enjoyable and the mysteries within this novel were well thought out and written!
