The mystery fun, as was the coming of age story of 3 girls in the 80s. The alternate timeline in the 60s was a bit strange and the family dynamics stranger. I didn’t care for the big reveal. I had figured out the ending and found it a bit predictable.

Unread shelf project 2020: book 59.

Ahhh I loved this book!! Perfect for my first finished book of October. #SpookyReads are my favorite thing this time of year — horror that isn’t disgusting, ghost stories that are elegantly terrifying, and the like.

Things are not how they seemed throughout this book, which initially started off as a murder mystery.

I’m so glad it wrapped up the way it did though. I get aggravated by books that appear to be ghost stories/based in supernatural themes and then... aren’t. (*cough* Riley Sager I’m lookin at you.)

A spooky book

I really liked this book. It was creepy but not too gory. I am glad I wasn't home alone when I was reading it.

Spoiler the reveal of the mare was sort of disappointing to me.
Because of that, I couldn't really get into it atmospherically. It didn't really start to give me chills until half way through but that quickly went away. I just...wasn't that scared. Maybe it was because of the audiobook

The Tower Motel, where Amy lives has a deep dark history.  Amy and her two friends Piper and Margot spend one summer trying to uncover all it's secrets.  After that summer the two sisters Piper and Margot are no longer friends.  Piper moves away while Margot marries Jason who was in love with Amy for his whole life.  Life has moved on until Amy, her husband and son are murdered leaving only Amy's daughter Lou alive.  All signs point to Amy but there was a photo found with Amy that only Piper and Margot understand.  Only they didn't really understand....

Jennifer McMahon books give me nightmares.  This is the second book of hers I have read and I will no longer be reading them before I go to bed.  They are daytime only books.  I enjoyed this book, it was fast paced and kept me guessing.  I loved the letters to Alfred Hitchcock and how it ended with one.  It all came together nicely.  While I liked this book I don't think it is one that will be on my recommended book list.  Now that I have said that I need to make a recommended book list.
