i really enjoyed this novel, but the style of it was at times a struggle for me to get through & often i felt like i’d get drawn out and drawn back in during the course of my reading. however the main character is incredible & so witty and memorable, a woman living on the verge of destitution but somehow still finding the funny side of things. i hadn’t heard of this author before but now i am curious to explore more of her works.

Leider fiel es mir schwer, mich auf das Buch komplett einzulassen, weil ich meine Probleme mit der Schreibweise hatte.
Wenn ich davon absehe, war es ein interessanter Einblick in die Gesellschaft und Denkweise in den 20er und 30er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts.
