I’m always really happy to find a book that focuses on friendship and how beautiful and deep it can be.

There are a few things that didn’t make me love the book as it could have. I wasn’t that into the characters. They were alright, but I wasn’t super invested in them. Because of that I also ended up being bored sometimes. Most of this book is slice of life with little plot and, therefore, heavily relies on character work. But I sometimes sat there thinking the book could end now, not seeing where it should continue.

There are a lot of discussions on queer and feminist topics in this book. I recognise many of these conversations that I’ve had with friends over the years. However, at times I thought there were a little too intense and much and made the book sound like a nonfiction book.

I saw many struggles and insecurities I have myself in this. That can often be pretty confronting, but the book dealt with it a heartwarming way that made me feel better instead of worse. I really appreciated that.

I love this book for what it did, and it could’ve potentially be exactly my taste, but at times didn’t quite get there.

I love reading aroace representation and it’s so nice having a “rom” com with no “rom” at least not from our main characters. It feels so nice to be represented and Zhao did such a great job with these characters I felt everyone even our more background characters were so rounded. I related to our main two characters thoughts and understood where they were coming from as a fellow aroace individual. Please check this work out!

Okay this is so cute!! I adored the ace and aro representation with TWO MC’s!!!! How stunning!! I definitely related more personally with Jo aka Dear Wanda more so than Sophie aka Dear Wendy but only because I’m more chaotic like Wanda, but with actual advice giving I’m definitely a mix of the two, leaning more into a Dear Wendy! If you want more ace and aro rep and a beautiful happily ever after - this book is swoon worthy!

Read for Popsugar: A book with an LGBTQ+ protagonist

Dual protagonists and they're both aroace! This was a cute story about friendship and platonic love, though it could have been edited down a bit in my opinion. There's a lot of explaining/telling rather than showing, but it's definitely a needed perspective in the book world.
