I love a good female choral story and for such a short novel this does a good job of defining each character. The love story is very sweet but the conflicts going on around it are enough to prevent the book from being unbearably fluffy. Still, some things annoyed me: especially at the beginning the two protagonists are so similar they might as well be the same person - their early interactions are a constant "No way! Me too!", and they keep quoting Emily Dickinson at each other and smirking which... come on now, be serious. Also, there's plenty of sex. I'm sure this is a pro for some readers, but I got bored of it pretty quickly. I haven't read any of those recent romance novels with the pastel-colored covers that all look the same, but I imagine Curious Wine is about that style of book. Except it's sapphic, which automatically makes it better.

If you can get over the fact that 50,000 people are introduced in the first chapter, you will love this book.

Curious Wine was a beautifully poetic love story. I was instantly enamoured with Lane and Diana and wanted nothing more than for them to have a future togehter.
Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Sexual assault
Minor: Racism

I think this sweet, sensual novel will stay near and dear to my heart.

I really don’t like the beginning of this book. There are like six women all spending the weekend together in a cabin in the mountains in California/Nevada. It’s very difficult to keep up with all of them in the beginning, especially when they really aren’t important to the rest of the story. That being said, I think, once the story started developing between the main two, it was a cute, old-school type romance. It feels a bit dated but no less real. I appreciate how everything happened and the ending was better than I expected. I recommend this book to older queer women (because they would understand some of the references better), and anyone who wants to read a short lesbian romance.
