5 STARS!

It was a cute, kinda educational read. Hit a big trigger for me, but I powered through it.

Delightful ode to 90s hip hop and teenage hope & bravado.

After Steph, their close friend, passes away, Quadir and Jarrell, along with Steph's sister Jasmine, come up with a plan to honor Steph's memory by getting his music heard and uncovering the truth behind his death.

"Let Me Hear a Rhyme" is a delightful audiobook I believe anyone would enjoy listening to.

God forbid, but if anything ever happens to me, I hope to have friends and family like Steph, who would work to ensure my dreams come true.

Ehhhhh. This book was good but not on my top fav list from this author. The ending of the book seemed rushed. I am glad that Quadir finally saw Ronnie for who she was. And he finally got with Jasmine. I think they had a wonderful connection. Two misunderstood people that understood one another.

Still not my favorite Tiffany Jackson book, but definitely a good one. I can absolutely see the audience for this book, I think teens will be riveted.

A beautiful ode to 90s hip hop, a heartwarming story about the power of having people in your corner who fight to keep your dreams alive

This year I vowed to accomplish finishing more books, so I’ve started using the Libby app and listening to audiobooks. So I’m not sure if the voice actors for the book was the main reason I didn’t really enjoy it or the writing.

I was super excited to pick up this book since I’m a big Tiffany D. Jackson fan. But this one just didn’t do it for me.

I felt like the story building took far to long to move the story along. The main characters were ok but there was just something missing here.

Steph, a Black teenager in Brooklyn, is murdered under circumstances that no one understands. His sister is determined to figure out what has happened but is warned by everyone against the dangers of getting involved. Meanwhile she and two of his close friends come across a self-produced cd and want Steph’s music to live on. A good YA read showing the complexities of these teenagers lives and relationships, and their difficult decisions in the face of financial and other pressures.
