Yay for early preorders! :D Two days it took me to finish this book! It was wonderful! I love the idea of a 'graphic memoir' and I honestly can't imagine a better medium for the great Stan Lee to tell his story. It was a bit rambling in places, but somehow that just seemed to make the book more endearing to me. I loved the many 'fourth wall' breaks, and I learned so much about not just Stan, but the history of Marvel as a company and of comics in general. I got a lot of great ideas for new stories to read and I learned about the rest of the men and women that made many of my favorite characters a reality. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I do not regret for one second preordering the hardcover. I'll probably read it again in the very near future :)

This was a nice and fun read that also didn't take long to get through. It breezes through Stan's life and his career and highlights some of the superheroes he created or wrote for over the years. All in all it was a rather interesting book. I'm glad I was able to meet him at two different conventions over the last few years.

So Stan Lee passed away recently and I realized I knew very little about his life or career beyond the obvious (characters he'd created). I wasn't expecting this to be in graphic novel/comic style but of course it was a perfect medium for the man who (by his own account and most everyone else's) basically made comics what they are today.

It was written from his point of view so I'm sure there's more to the stories of workplace and industry issues but it was a nice little view into the early days.

And his love for his wife above all was so touching. I'm so sad he was without her these last few years.

His legacy will most certainly live on.

I didn’t expect this one to go by so quickly, but it’s probably because it was an illustrated memoir, a fact I should have investigated before picking up the audiobook lol

That said, the audiobook also did not disappoint. Stan Lee didn’t narrate in its entirety, but provided a foreword. The narrator, Peter Riegert, is an amazing character actor. He almost sounded a little like Stan! I loved that the audiobook read like a radio serial, something that Stan mentions inspired him growing up.

I’ve always been a Marvel girl. My dad was a big superhero comic book guy. Growing up, we always read comics and watched tv and movies together. It was the X-Men, specifically Storm, that had me cementing my love for Marvel comics.

My only gripe is that it was so short! I wanted to hear more about the founding of Marvel comics and building the MCU. I am so glad he had a few remarks about his cameos in the movies. But he really is for the fans. And that comes out so clearly.

RIP, Stan, and thank you for creating these fantastical, inspirational stories. 💕

Is this an amazing story, sort've. Is it a Fantastic story? Not really. It is pretty incredible though. When you think of having a 70 year career in one field, it is staggering. Lee's story is fun to read in this format and has an air of both childness and maturity to it with the various professional and personal comments.

Excellent, beautiful, funny graphic novel about Stan Lee, illustrator, storyteller, creator, author, trailblazer.

The illustrations in this book are outstanding! He tells his life story with self jabbing humor and astonishment that he got to meet so many "famous people" along his journey.

This is a winner folks!

I was glad that this book wasn't a hagiography. Also, it was less biographical than I expected.
