This is only my third book in the thriller genre and it will not be my last! This book has hooked me on the thriller genre.
This is Caitlin and Olivia’s story. I refuse to give any spoilers or details because this is the book you go into blind. I was held hostage from the first page until the last. I never saw the ending coming or the twist.
This book is very well written with excellent character development and plot development! I’m writing this still numb from the ending and rather sad that there aren’t more pages because I loved it so much.
I very highly recommend this book! I’ll definitely be going through this authors back list!

I don’t even know where to start without giving anything away—this book completely consumed me. First of all, I could not stop reading. One night, I literally stayed up until 2 am because I had to know what was going to happen next. Dandy, wow… You really wrote a story that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
The story follows two sisters who are left home alone for the first time when their parents go to a dinner party. That night, 16-year-old Olivia is abducted, and her younger sister Caitlin is left behind. For over ten years, Caitlin struggles with guilt and trauma until suddenly, Olivia comes back. But is this woman really her sister? That question drives the whole book, and let me tell you, it messed with my head in the best way.
This was such an addictive read. It’s told in dual timelines and POVs, which I loved, giving the story that extra depth and intensity. On one hand, it’s an emotional story about sisters and family. On the other hand, it’s this dark, twisty psychological thriller that kept me second-guessing everyone. At times, I felt like I was going crazy right along with Caitlin, trying to figure out if she was imagining things or if she was right all along.
And honestly? I got so mad sometimes because no one believed Caitlin. I was literally yelling at my book like, “Why won’t you listen to her?! 😂
The twists and turns were nonstop, and I never saw that ending coming. Dandy Smith really delivered with this one, suspenseful, emotional, and full of surprises. Do I wish there were a slightly happier ending? Sure. But honestly, with everything the characters went through, the way it wrapped up felt just right.
I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it if you love psychological thrillers that keep you up all night

this book felt like a mashup of a bunch of books in one, which was a little disorientating at times… it had all of the qualities of THEN SHE WAS GONE and THE LAST HOUSEWIFE, but ultimately fell flat to throwing in plot twists just to say there was one 👀
the missing person storyline is one that always provides some sort of mysterious plot twist, but this time, it felt predictable for me. and I wanted so much more from all of the red herrings that the author threw in!
I 100% wanted to feel more invested in the missing sister storyline, but the characters were so unlikable and demeaning to the FMC (and she refused to stand up for herself which was also wild)
overall, I just think the author tried to do too many things at once and left me feeling unfilled by the ending
rating: 2 stars
wine pairing: new zealand pinot noir

This story definitely kept me guessing. At first I felt I was reading two completely different stories, not knowing how the narratives were connected. Holy plot twist!!!

A twisty, fun thriller. Caitlin has been engaged 3 years when her dad tells her to come home. Her sister Olivia has been found after 16 years. Olivia was kidnapped out of their home as a young teenager. But now that she’s home, something doesn’t seem right.
These chapters are alternated with the POV of Elinor Ledbury, an orphaned 17 year old who is sheltered at her fancy home by her older brother Hugh. They will inherit their home from their suspicious uncle Robert.
It takes a long time for these two storylines to intersect. I appreciate the beginning and really liked the idea of a missing person coming home. This book is really well written, the characters are realistic, and the setting in England is modern day.
I did feel like some of the characters were a little one-dimensional, but Overtime the reveals came through often and at really good intervals. The pacing in this novel is simply exquisite. Everyone has a secret.
I devoured it in a day!
