[3.5 stars] The low Goodreads rating made absolutely no sense to me based on the first half of Angel Time. I was convinced that this book was going to be a favorite I'll come back to over and over again, but there's a distinct chasm between the writing in the first half and the second one. I'm not opposed to the genre change midway, but everything else - including the main character - did a 180.
Nonetheless, Anne Rice was able to write one of my favorite chapters in any book, and a beautifully thought-provoking theological speculation in the form of stream of consciousness.

Great idea...enjoyed the angel theme...little thin in plot - little kitschy but love the concept. Writing always good
I thought Anne Rice was supposed to be amazing. No chance I'm going to read Interview with the Vampire now.
well, I thought it would be less religious.. Anyway, it is a great book, especially theinvestigation of 'mysterious' event and looking into what exactly had happened.
It's been at least 10 years since reading an Anne Rice novel, and I'm reminded why I've read more of her books than any other author. I feel at times the plot seemed slow in this book, but when I finished it, I felt like the undertones of the book said more than the story itself. It's not necessarily the events that happen, but the reactions and emotions to them. It's getting to know the mind of the characters. That's why I like Anne Rice.
This was a complete disappointment to me.
I am a fan of Anne Rice, and though I cannot dispute that she is a great writer, I found this book to be disjointed and completely over the top in terms of it's religious tone.
The book is about an assassin who encounters an angel, travels through time and becomes a monk. The two stories were so vastly different from one another they could have been two seperate books.
The book essentially was about conversion. I think it could have been done without the time travel element? It should have been two different books.
