This was my second Chevy Stevens book, and once again I really enjoyed it! The plot was not overly original, but nonetheless I found it to be a fun thriller that kept me guessing and constantly changing my predictions. It also reminded me how much I don't miss high school, as the MC deals with some awful bullies in the flashbacks. The middle of this got a little long, but I still enjoyed it and I loved the dynamics among the characters! I was so stressed out by this book!

For a book and author I'd never heard of, this story had me sucked in the whole time. Love to find gems like these.

This was a slow burn and not in the best way for me. I have read this author before and really enjoyed her books but this one wasn't my fave. But i did get caught up with wanting to know who done it
Sometimes, after reading several ho-hum books in a row, I get a little frustrated and start to forget the excitement that a book can hold. So I get surprised when a book keeps me up all night reading and evokes physical responses of tension, anxiety, frustration, excitement, grief, happiness, elation, and relief. I'm thankful That Night could remind me why I love to read.
I've never read Chevy Stevens before, but this story of a couple wrongly convicted of murdering the girl's sister will cause me to take a look at the rest of her work.
The story begins a bit slowly, with lots of setup and exposition. At times I even wondered why the author would go to such great lengths with so many details, many of which seemed tiny and insignificant. But as the story evolves and especially as it comes to a close, it becomes clear that the details were, indeed, significant.
I honestly couldn't predict how the story would end. I had my suspicions, but the details and reasons were unclear. And as the tension built things about the past and the future were extremely uncertain.
I'm writing this review at 3:30 am because I just finished the book and have to share my thoughts RIGHT NOW. That's how much I liked this book. I highly recommend it.

I really like Chevy Stevens but compared to the previous two I had read by her (Still Missing and Never Knowing) this one wasn't that great. I'm purposely rating it a bit higher than I feel (a 4 instead of a probably deserved 3) because I think the let down from her previous two books may be clouding my judgement. It was still a better story than many other mysteries I've read.
Problems- many of the characters were relatively flat, I have nothing but vitriol and hate for the mother character, the ending was somehow simultaneously drug out and yet too fast in its final resolution
Good points- examined prison life in an honest way, set up a plausible scenario for how the wrongly accused were wrongly convicted, built a reasonable amount of suspense
