OMG. So good!! The teenage drama got old sometimes, but I'm just one who doesn't care for drama. Makes me sad girls act that way, but glad I never went through that.

Mean Girls and Heathers meets Orange Is the New Black

I enjoyed the book more than her other books but it was written for a younger reader than myself. It isn't a YA book but perhaps a cautionary tale for high school students.

Small town, murder and lives lost in more than the typical way were the major themes for this book. Toni tells this story, but from three different points in time with chapters nicely headlined as to what time period she is narrating from and I loved how the weaved together. From the beginning, the author sets the stage that Toni's sister has been murdered and Toni and her not so clean cut boyfriend are found guilty for the murder, although they preach from the beginning that they are completely innocent. The reader must decide at some point whether they are convinced that she is speaking the truth or really did commit the crime.
dark mysterious slow-paced

DISCLAIMER: I received a free copy of this book from #Chatterbox in exchange for an honest review, which I'm happy to do.

REALLY enjoyed this book. Fast paced, page turner with a little bit of a surprise ending. Great character development. Second novel by Chevy Stevens & again not disappointed in the least! Highly recommend to any and all. Any local friends who want to borrow, let me know, always happy to share a great book!!!

Another fantastic novel from Chevy Stevens. She has a gripping way of pulling the reader in and making them forget they have to get up in the morning and go to work. Well worth it.

Sisters Toni and Nicole Murphy couldn’t be more different. Toni isn’t your typical oldest child—getting into trouble, not trying in school, and too attached to her troublesome boyfriend, Ryan. Nicole is the golden child—stays out of trouble, listens to her parents, and doesn’t party or go out much. That all changes when Nicole begins hanging out with some older, popular girls from school. She begins lying, sneaking out, and dressing provocatively. When Nicole ends up brutally beaten and left for dead at a lake, police point the finger at Toni and Ryan, and they go to jail for over a decade before being released on parole. Now that they’re out, they’re determined to prove their innocence to their families and community, but it won’t be easy. Someone is still out to get them, determined to keep them locked up for good.

I think I could’ve given this four stars if the writing was better. The beginning dragged, and I just wanted to know what really happened (The story alternated from past to present.). It picked up about halfway through, but I really struggled with the writing style. It’s a good story about staying strong when the odds are against you, and she did a good job of making you frustrated with all the injustice as a reader. I just wish the writing was a little more sophisticated.

I really enjoyed the story it is everything I look for in book great characters, a thrilling story line, and it kept me guessing the whole time. Some of the reviews that I read stated this was not one of Chevy Stevens best books, if that is the case I cannot wait to start her other books.

Thank you Chatterbox for finding me a new author to be on the lookout for!

I loved everything about this book!!!

Telegraphed ending, but a page turner.
