The story drew me in from the very beginning and the twist at the end was a surprise. I really liked the format - switching back and forth from past and present. I also got a little bit of a "Making a Murderer" vibe, which made this book all the more addictive.
I really liked Never Knowing and Still Missing by Chevy Stevens so I was really excited to read her latest book, but I was so disappointed. I actually couldn't believe this was the same author because the quality of the writing was not good. I agree with the other reviewers that mentioned how the book was longer than necessary and going into details that weren't vital to the story. Also, it's not much fun reading a thriller when it's so obvious who committed the crime the whole time.

I loved Chevy Stevens' first two novels but this one was a disappointment. Predictable and flat with an unlikable and whiny main character.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I just finished it and I loved it. It is a thriller that's a quick read and hard to put down. I liked all the twists and turns. So, if you like a quick, easy, suspenseful read, you will love this!
Flipped the pages of this one pretty fast! It was a really good diversion. Not much of a who-dun-it but still gripping.

I was so excited to have the opportunity to review this novel as I've thoroughly enjoyed Chevy Stevens' previously published books. Thanks to St. Martin's Press for the review copy I received via netgalley in return for an honest review.
This novel is told in narrative form, flitting between the present day and sixteen years ago. Main character Toni tells the story of events leading up to that fateful night that irrevocably changed the lives of everyone directly or indirectly involved. Lives are ruined, relationships shattered and nothing will ever be the same again.
From the very first page, I was hooked. The author has a compelling writing style with brilliant use of descriptive vocabulary, which completely captured me. Everything going on in my surroundings seemed to fade away, and I was powerless to stop reading until the very end. I managed to read this novel in one sitting, briefly interrupted with a few hours of sleep when I could no longer keep my eyes open. I could not devour this utterly compelling tale fast enough, and the unforeseen ending had me shouting at my kindle in disbelief.
This is, without doubt, one of the best books I have ever read. I loved Stevens' first novel, Still Missing, so much, that I was slightly concerned that this one could not possibly impress me so. I'm so thrilled to say that my fears turned out to be totally unfounded. Each new novel penned by this author manages somehow to surpass it's predecessor.
I'd recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced and thrilling read with a spellbinding premise and more twists and turns than the latest rollercoaster. A cracking read that deserves more than 5/5!

A mystery about teenage angst and rebellion, battle of wills between mother and daughter, and wrongful conviction. This is by far one of the best mysteries I've ever read. I honestly got anxious reading about how Shauna plotted to torment Toni. I did not see the twist and turns coming. I want to read more Chevy Stevens novels now.
