I just really enjoyed this book. I was pulled in from the beginning.

I am really torn about the review for this book. Through the first half, I wanted to DNF it. Much of the 1st half could be cut... It just takes too long to get to the action... to That Night. But once I got there, it was much better, and by the end, I'm glad I stuck with it. There are just way too many bad things that happen to this poor woman though. It's almost painful to read.

Seamless, dual timelines; a murder mystery in a way, with a wrongful conviction; perfect pacing; both lovable and loathsome characters; so suspenseful and engaging; a page-turner with a satisfying resolution

THAT NIGHT
Written by Chevy Stevens
2014, St. Martin's Press (384 pages)
Genre: mystery, suspense, psychological, Canadian

Rating: ★★★★

Ever since I have read Chevy Steven's first novel I have added her to my must-read authors and That Night does not disappoint. It is a very good suspense/mystery set in BC, Canada (Campbell River to be exact).  We see Toni go through teen angst that bonds her to her boyfriend, alienates her from the popular girls at school, and misunderstood by her family.  When her younger sister is murdered she and her boyfriend, Ryan are charged and convicted.  Now, Toni is released and must get her life together.  I  like how Stevens flips back and forth between the "teen Toni" and "adult Toni" seamlessly. It does not seemed forced or cheesy as we learn how the past unfolds to what we now know.
