This book was excellent. It gave me all the feels. I, like the main character Toni, had a shit time in high school so this book struck some cords with me. Add in a dog and love loss and some hard times. This book was a page turner. I blazed through to the end!

A good suspenseful book. Kept going back and forth in time which was kinda hard to keep up with but it didn't make it hard to follow what was going on. Did NOT see the ending coming.

I really like Chevy Stevens writing style. This one was different from the first novel of hers I read, but I still loved the past/present aspect. In That Night, you learn of the tragedy that happened when Toni was a teenager. Skip to the present & she’s in prison 17 years later, for a murder she’s been accused of, but isn’t guilty of. It’s such a gripping pace & the way it’s told will keep you guessing & craving the truth. I didn’t see one aspect of the twist coming, but the ending satisfied me. I’ll definitely read the rest of her books!

The first part was too childish for my taste, a lot of teenage drama (that ends in murder, but still, way too much bullying and teenage/parent fights). The second part really picked up, I wanted to get to the bottom of it and the resolution was satisfying
The mother is the worst human being.... I wanted to strangle her from beginning to end.
Extra points for rescue pit bull representation!!

I did not finish reading this book. I made it to about page 130 and with no important plot development, I decided returning it to the library was less of a hassle than renewing it for another two weeks. Essentially, it has all the makings of a good murder mystery: dead family member, innocence, lots of villains (or should I say bullies?), but the way that the author decided to organize the book left me frustrated and saying "Get to the point." I made it through the first third of the book and still had zero insight on that night - pun intended. With all of this chronological mismatching you should at least give me a teaser into the entire purpose of telling this story. Maybe if I actually felt passionate about a single character in this story, maybe then I would have considered a renewal, but each of the characters in this story suck. You aren't really rooting for anyone. I plan on reading spoilers online because while I didn't want to finish reading, I still want to know who freaking done it. Just for a piece of mind.
