I binge read this book. It was infuriating and intriguing all at once. Could not stop until I found out what happened. Character and plot development were fantastic. Very well done.

Great book with a twist at the end that I didn’t see coming. I love Chevy Stevens’ writing. She creates suspenseful, emotional thrillers without being too sensational. When reading That Night I felt a bit bored by some of the prison scenes, but it didn’t detract from the story overall.

Chevy Stevens is one of my favorites; an author who's books I'm almost guaranteed to enjoy. Especially if I am in the mood for a suspense or thriller, and this book did not disappoint.

We are introduced to main character Toni at two different times in her life.

First, as a 34 year old inmate in prison on the release day of her 12 year sentence. She was convicted for the murder of her younger sister; a crime she says she didn't commit.

Secondly, as a rebellious teenage girl. She constantly fights with her parents, especially her mother, and is always being compared to her perfect little sister. Not only this, but she is also being bullied by a group of mean girls at school. Her only source of happiness comes from her boyfriend, Ryan.

The majority of the book transitions from these two viewpoints and slowly unfolds towards The Night Of her sister's murder. After the climax, we follow Toni's first days and months out of prison and whether or not she can find the one that really murdered her sister.

I don't know whether it was the suspense of the story, or because my power kept going out, but I could not put this down. Adult Toni was highly sympathetic; teenage Toni was annoying, but either way I still found her like-able enough. My only complaints are: I wish the story went a little faster in the beginning, and I wish that less time was spent on the high-school life and more on her prison life, it reminded me of Orange is the New Black. Also, I thought the ending was a little rushed and I wanted more resolution for Toni and Ryan.

Overall, I highly recommend for fans of suspenseful thrillers and shows like Making a Murder.

Not my bitch ass crying over That Night by Chevy Stevens.  One of her best thrillers and I was absolutely hooked from the first few pages.

Toni is so realistic and relatable and I love her voice as it wove between her high school life,  imprisonment, and adult life. I found her journey to be the woman that she is today to be extremely touching and thrilling of course. Perfect journey for the perfect woman. Of course I related a little too hard on giving up Capitain. And with how horrible her how was, absolutely bonkers and heart breaking.

Looking for a book that is a mixture of Orange is the New Black and Pretty Little Liars?

This book is half young adult/half adult. We read from the perspective of Toni who is accused of murdering her sister. She goes to jail as a teen, and spends 17 years in prison until she is released to restart her life. Now 34, she is trying to make sure she doesn't violate her parole, and just make ends meet. Her old boyfriend Ryan, also went to jail for the murder and is released, but they aren't supposed to be communicating. He is pretty sure he can set the record straight and clear their names, but its a risky move and can send them straight back to jail again.

I really enjoyed the parts of Toni being in prison. It really gave you an insight of how that shaped her, how much of a struggle it is to just stay alive and well, and really gave a glimpse of prison life. I also enjoyed some of the younger Toni chapters, of how she was bullied in school (I'm a huge fan of Pretty Little Liars), and it was so interesting to read about her parents as well.

Unfortunately, you aren't going to find many twists in this book. The evil/bad people are pretty much what you think they are, and I found this to be particularly lazy. If i could have been shocked my something, it probably would have brought my rating higher, because all in all, the story was enjoyable.

Really enjoyed this story. Toni was a pretty likeable character and I felt so angry for her with all the injustices forced upon her. I just wanted to go to bat for her. Loved the twists and everything about this novel.
