This book had a few too many characters for my reading pleasure. I found myself drawn more to the side stories than the main case. I also felt like the main case went on forever and then just ended. I liked the character of Hammersmith and will get round to reading it's sequel at some point but until then I'll say it was an okay read just a bit long winded for my liking.

Feels more like backstory the author had to explain so we would understand the story he wanted to write- book 2. Reads more like the first rocky season of a tv show than a novel. I liked the main characters though. Hopeful book 2 or a stand alone novel by this author would be better.
The amount of “ahead of his times” moments the doctor has is very funny to me. I love girlboss moments lol

I liked this novel quite a bit. It was an exciting thriller while still having good character development and an interesting historical aspect of Scotland Yard and morgues. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys thrillers or historical novels.

Thought I was in the mood for a darker murder mystery and I wasn't no fault of the book or author

Really good introduction to this series. I enjoyed the Victorianism as well as the criminal elements. The characters seem real and it actually is a page turner that keeps you going. I found the evil and the darkness to be not over done, nor campy. I'll look forward to reading more.
