Reading a book about a Golden Retiever that died the same way our first Golden died was very tough, ven six years later. I wish Koontz didn't come across as arrogant and trying to get folks tom read his other novels through this story. Stick to the story of Trixie and take out the ten dollar philosophies and words.

This is the true account of a remarkable dog who touched Dean Koontz in a profound and everlasting way. A very sweet story of Trixie the golden retriever who made Koontz see dogs in a new light. She became almost a daughter to him- if in a whimsical and furry way. Loved this book!

Such a sweet book. Dean Koontz gets a forced retired companion dog, Trixie.
What an amazing dog and such love. Great stories including his training, he won't poop in their yard, he learns to speak (ball), he is attune to good and bad people.

I got about a third through the book. I love dogs and I thought some parts were ind of funny, but Koontz just couldn't keep my attention. I may try it again down the line when I have some more time on my hands... but meh.

Good sappy dog story. I really liked how he talked about the human-dog connection. Not funny like Marley and Me (and I didn't like his criticism's of Marley and Me) but a good read.

Collection of cute and interesting stories about his dog daughter. I enjoyed the stories themselves but not all the other stuff around them. Had to really push myself to keep reading.

What a beautiful heartwarming (and heart wrenching) memoir of a dog. A special, mysterious dog. Through out this book I was mesmerized by Trixie, I laughed, gasped, and cried like a baby. I suggest any dog lover or Koontz fan to read this. It was an amazing book. Now excuse me while I go hug my dogs a little tighter tonight.
