These stories do not have morals or judgements, but they make you pause and introspect for a moment!

This, along with “L’hôte” are the strongest works in “L’exil et le Royaume”. This story in particular is beautiful in its imagery and visual metaphors. Camus is able to convey the feeling of lost potential and a wasted life poignantly.

My favorite Camus story. I don’t want to say much without giving away the point of the story because the ending is amazing. This story is short enough and intriguing enough that you could finish it in 30 minutes.

It focuses on bad-faith and existentialism and regret for doing something because it was comfortable and not because you were 100% committed and excited about it. Something I’m sure a majority of people can relate to and understand.

This was an easy, quick read, perfect if you would like a book you could easy finish in one sitting. I personally read mine by the sea, there wasn’t a great deal of substance to the book, nor did we particularly get to know or love the characters, however I feel there are lessons that can be interpreted it from it, and techniques for ones own writing
