Super entertaining, and laugh-out-loud funny. The audiobook was solid, with a narrator who did a great job of distinguishing between the three points of view with her voice. I was also impressed with how well the footnotes worked in the audio.

Fun. Silly. Sweet.
I requested this from the library for my son thinking it was a graphic novel. It is simply a chapter book. Neither kid was interested in reading it. oops. I read it because I had taken up library staff time and effort to transfer it to my library for me to have. It was also a nice break from the heavier reading I had recently done. It is a cute and positive book for kids - not meant for me. My guess is a kid would likely give it a higher rating.

Doreen Green, Squirrel Girl, is the hero we all need. In this children's book, Doreen, age 14, has just moved to a new town and started a new school. All her life, she's had to hide her squirrel tail and powers of speed and strength. But something evil is taking place in her new home, and it's up to Doreen to save the day and connect with her super-hero identity.
This book is very, very silly. The army of squirrels, the teenage super villain, the perpetually kidnapped babies, are all ridiculous. But it's not the plot that makes this book: it's Doreen herself, her faith in other people, her endless optimism, her determination and her courage. If you were charmed by her in her comics, you'll be charmed by her here too: as a teenager, she's just as delightful. She's also accompanied by her new best friend, hard-of-hearing Ana Sofía, a teenage sleuth, and the toughest squirrel in the world, Tippy-toe.
A downside to this book might be that it requires some knowledge of the Marvel universe: everyone from She-Hulk to Rocket the racoon have their own bit-parts. The plot is also chaotic, and the fight scenes too long drawn out. But overall, it's wildly enjoyable, and I would recommend it to anyone who want to know Doreen. Her tireless courage and kindness make her one of my heroes.

A delightful novel that is just fun all around. If this is the quality of marvel novels they will be putting out, count me in. It captures all the fun and excitement of the comics and aims it for a different audience creating something wonderful.

Definitivamente no fue la mejor manera de entrarle al mundo de Squirrel Girl.
No soy su público y el libro me pareció aburrido. Las notas al pie en lugar de darle un plus la verdad se volvieron molestisimas.

Squirrel Girl is the cheerful, innocent, upbeat superhero we all deserve. With live parents that she gets along great with and Tippy Toe and all her other squirrel buddies she manages to save the world and insult Tony Stark, as well as introduce us to the awesome Ana Sophia.
I've read the comics before, where SG is currently in college and hasn't lost an ounce of the enthusiasm you see here in her fourteen year old self. It's honestly so refreshing. She's one of several young female superheroes Marvel had created in the past few years whose stories are upbuilding and leave you with a smile on your face.
Can't wait for the next book!
