Even though I spoiled the mystery within 5 pages of it I still have to say this is my favorite Poirot novel so far

A rare Christie (I can hardly yet call it the only one after reading all of four books of hers), that may still merit reading even if one knows the ending. Still racist and classist, etc, as you might expect, but dispels with many of her appalling adverbs and has some narrative intrigue beyond mere plot. ALSO, a nice bonus: the crime is perfectly solvable!

I don’t know what to expect before reading this but a lot of people seemed to like this book and I was excited to see/read what all the fuss is about. And I can definitely say that I agree with the majority.

I was sad that Hastings isn’t narrating this but it was kind of refreshing. I like reading in the perspective of someone new talking about Poirot lol

Agatha Christie seems to always make me doubt my guesses and then surprised me at the end.

Of course the big reveal was just incredible but the way the book ended was my favourite so far out of all the Poirot books I’ve read (3 books excluding this).

All in all, brilliant book!

This is the 7th Hercule Poirot novel I’ve read and it may just be my favourite so far. I know it’s one of her more popular novels and I can see why.
I was gripped from page one and devoured almost all of this in one sitting - did I guess the twist and whodunnit? Almost. The thought crossed my mind and then I quickly dismissed it. Maybe I’ll guess the next one!

I haven't read many Agatha Christie novels but when I was feeling the urge for a good old fashioned mystery, I knew just where to turn. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is one of Hercule Poirot's early investigations, and thought by many critics to be Christie's best work. In this one, Poirot comes out of retirement in a small British village to help unravel a murder and clear the name of a young woman's fiance.

This was such an interesting and fun story, and if you haven't read much Christie, this is a great place to start along with Murder on the Orient Express. The characters are interesting and complex - and all seem to have a little something to hide. Leave it to Poirot to unravel the truth! And the surprise twist at the end made it all worthwhile. I would never have guessed it and neither will you.

I love the way Christie unfolds the story. The ending of this one was a bit of a surprise, and not hugely in a good way (not the solution to the mystery, but the fallout, iykyk). But still, overall I enjoyed it.
