Não sou fã de personagens com commitment issues. Mas a escrita da autora flui bem e foi um bom debut

I really liked the writing and the general story. But to be honest, I couldn’t forgive the way Ami treated Elliott so I didn’t really get the warm and fuzzies I wanted at the end.

I thought this book was well done and well thought out. Following a wedding planner, AMA, who scored the wedding of the year and now has to work with her ex, the book’s flow was almost perfect. The only thing that prevents me from giving this 5 stars was the end.

The book does a great job in almost all aspects. It’s got the grumpy MMC, sunshine FMC who doesn’t believe in love, and a second chance romance mixed with a contrast of enemies to lovers. The author does a great job intermixing the past and present timelines so we as a reader get the understanding of WHY these characters are in the position that they are in with their relationship. And I thought the writing was well done. For this being the author’s first novel, she did an incredible job with the storyline and the writing.

My only issue was the ending. Throughout the book, I was waiting for the two MCs to at least discuss their former relationship, but that never happens. In fact, the MMC, Elliot, barely speaks and they barely interact with each other. It isn’t until the last 50ish pages that they talk. And to me, that killed the vibe of the book. Because, as a reader, I didn’t understand why they should get back together at all. In a second chance romance, there needs to be romance in the present. And I didn’t get that here. And that is why it’s getting the rating it is. This is a personal thing, but I do think it’s worth the read.

Overall, I think you should read this if you like dual timelines, second chance romance, multiple POVs, and less interaction between MCs. It worked for me, but not in a way that was fully satisfying to me, who loves banter and character interactions.

3.5 stars. Great second chance romance with a solid plot. Very spicy. Grumpy sunshine trope with these characters who I loved. I read this in one day at the beach. I loved this story.
