Hard to digest the writing style
dark slow-paced
Strong character development: Yes

I could get past the part where we were talking about “mutual rape” but when you start involving a 12 year old that doesn’t work for me.

What the actual hell was that?

granted, it’s a writing style you know is honed and crafted, and yes maybe the very base of the story itself is new and interesting, but other than that, what the hell?

I think Anne needs a real good therapist.
she could write about anything she pleases and she chooses incest, pedophilia and ghost rape. again, what the hell?

my favourite part of this book? finishing it.

the two stars are for part one and the writing itself. now i want to visit new orleans, and never read this book again

Yikes! Reading “The Witching Hour” was a very different experience from the TV show. The amount of incest, rape, and pro life ideology was wild. Although I’ve done my own research and found that Anne Rice’s ideology evolved over her life, this was a painful read. This book left me feeling gross, and although I can recognize the quality writing, I won’t be continuing the series.
