redundant as hell but it's still twilight
I should start this off by saying, I have read the original Twilight books and college-aged Rachel loved them. I also re-watch the Twilight movies every couple of years. So I’m a fan of the Twilight world.
HOWEVER, I just don’t see the point of this book. It’s much longer than the original Twilight book, so much longer in fact that I originally thought it covered the whole series from Edward’s perspective. Nope! It’s just Twilight.
Things I enjoyed:
Reading people’s minds through Edward
Steamy make out scenes (or almost make out in some cases

Not going to lie, this book almost ruined Twilight for me. I bought it the day it was released as I was so excited to read it. But it turned a romance that my teenage self loved so much, and turned it into 600 pages of realising Edward is a creepy stalker.
Overall, wish I never read it.
Loved the Emmett content tho, definitely made me fall in love with his character more.

Unexpectedly, I found myself enraptured by this book in the beginning. Meyer's writing has improved tremendously in some ways when compared with the first Twilight novel, and I particularly enjoyed that there was more introspection and world building in this version to balance out the dialogue-heavy original. Unfortunately, I realized about half way through that Edward's head is a monotonous, irritating place to be. He really does come across as insufferable. In contrast, Bella's character has a little more depth seen through Edward's eyes.
A major complaint I have is that it feels that Meyer very poorly connected Edward's internal thoughts and feelings to the existing dialogue. There was quite a bit of pointless, bloated filler.

I like this book sooo much until Edward couldn’t stop talking about leaving. It made my opinion of him change. I know he contemplates it, but in his mind, he is straight lying to Bella and fully intends on leaving. He stays for a bit, makes her fall more and more for him, then just oops on out of there. I’m just a little disappointed of the writing on him. It seems like it just wasn’t him.

Edward has way too much to say
Used to love the Twilight series when I was younger (still kind of a sucker for the books). Always used to wish for a book in Edward’s perspective, especially after rumours and the short draft that was released and after years of waiting it happened.

Edward is insufferable, but that’s what makes the book good
DNF’d 14 hours into this audiobook… and there were still 12 left to go. This book was capital B Boring and capital R Repetitive.
