beautiful

Griffin and Joy have great chemistry. Griffin is a total flirt but Joy is not the only one who loves it! It was beautiful seeing how they both loved each other so much they were willing to let each other go so they could be happy, only to realize what the other for the whole time and find their way back to each other.

I am huge Lauren Blakely fan, but this book by far has moved into my favorite. Blakely took me on a trip to Paris, one that is so visual and so romantic, I am not sure that the actuality of going there would ever live up to the expectation! Joy has come to Paris to start her life fresh. Paris is giving her the chance to promote her career and now with Griffin start a path to romance...Griffin is such an interesting character, both charming and good looking. But that is not what Joy has fallen for. These two characters have such depth and realism, it is easy to get caught up in their romance, and try and nudge them to stay together! The locations around Paris that we get to see, from the coffee/tea shop, chocolate, angels, pink doors and caricature artists we get a good look at what most tourists don't get to witness. With these excursions, I know, I was feeling the love and chemistry these to had. But with Griffin's wanderlust and previously made promises and Joy's opportunities, would their relationship survive? What a trip we get to go on, one that everyone should take and enjoy!

With a book like this, narration is key, and accents need to be spot-on. The choice of Grace Grant and Richard Armitage is brilliant. Armitage is the incredible as Griffin, and let him do his French accent any day. It is perfection. Grace Grant is always wonderful and these two together are complimentary of each other making this listen one of the best I have heard.

I have been panting for this book for months. An American "girl" in Paris with a gorgeous, rugged handsome British translator...It's as if Lauren Blakely and I share the same fantasies. I took French at 13 for the very moment I would find a French man to marry. As I got older my need to stop and listen to accents that put me on edge increased and to this day a sexy foreign tongue has me losing my mind. (Just ask my south American hubs😘)

Wanderlust is exactly the vacation from my snow covered New Jersey life. It's Paris. It's new and exciting. It's an adventure. A romance in the City of Lights! What could possibly hold you back from the ultimate fantasy...

Wanderlust only needs the British accents whispering in your ear to bring you to completion and I've been told the audio book does just that. So take it from a lady who lusts after accented encounters, this book will give you the vacation to wander and explore right from your favorite reading spot. No passport or language lessons required.

Another great escape from Lauren Blakely. Joy is a woman coming off a bad break up in Texas(my home state) and has decided to make a giant change in her life by taking a new job in Paris as a chemist for a perfume company. Griffin is a native of Britain (ohh, that accent) who is living in Paris to complete a bucket list of items. As fate would have it Griffin has been hired by Joy’s company to be her translator for 3 months. Griffin and Joy spend office time working together and also personal time to “immerse” Joy in the French language. But, Griffin’s plans are to leave in time to run a marathon in Indonesia. This story seemed so much more emotional, in the most beautiful way, to me. Lauren has spun such a beautiful story of two people coming together. I found myself teary eyed with 5 chapters left!! But what is a Lauren Blakely book without the required swoon-worthy, heart of gold hero plus a delicious British accent and one very strong, knows what she wants heroine? Well, it is all of that and soooo much more, the HEA! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I knew I wanted to read Wanderlust the minute saw the words British and Paris in the synopsis. I love getting lost in books where I get to visit other countries through the eyes of the characters.

I went to Paris once, very briefly. I felt like a stereotypical American tourist—clueless about the language and hoping there were kind French people who knew enough English to take pity on me. It was a little awkward. Joy, a Texan, moves to Paris, confident and eager to tackle the city even though she only speaks enough French to get her in trouble. I instantly admired her and her bubbly attitude. Griffin is a dashing flirt and a British Frenchman—an irresistible combination.

While Griffin helps Joy become immersed in the French language, Joy’s vivid descriptions of Parisian textures, smells, tastes, and sights completely seduced me. The couple’s attraction is instant and their verbal foreplay is highly entertaining.

The story is sweet and sexy from beginning to end, and I think that is where there is room for improvement. Things between Joy and Griffin are so smooth and easy—a little too easy. With a lack of sufficient real conflict, the story occasionally lost my attention. Altogether, though, it’s a charming adventure that should appeal to romance lovers and travelers alike.

I loved the Narration of this book. The narrators took me through the streets of Paris and made the whole idea very romantic. Joy and Griffin had such great chemistry that I think was created through their narration.

I am not sure I would have enjoyed this book had I read it. I suspect I would have been skimming some pages had I read the book. Richard Armitage's accent added a kind of magical quality that helped to transport you to the streets of Paris.

The actual storyline was ok. I liked Joy. I liked Griffin. I liked them together. I liked the whole concept of Joy creating perfumes, and even some of the information about how it was done. The whole bucket list concept didn't thrill me, but I did love the realization Griffin ultimately had about the bucket list and Joy's involvement.

I liked that Joy was willing to uproot and take a chance on a new location, with a new language, and a new life. Her enthusiasm could be a bit much at times, but that did not make her unlikable.

Hearing French being spoken added to the romantic feel of the book. I can't say if the accents were on point or not, as I don't speak French. I can say that they sounded good. I would not have been able to get that from reading the book.

I can definitely recommend the audio version of this book. Since book 2 is not in Audible Escapes, I have to decide if I want to purchase it. I actually think I might!

Hellllllo accents!

I honestly don't even remember my last book that had a british accent. I am so sad to say that as well. Ugh, thank god I ran into Wanderlust!

Eh, it was okay. They were both cute and all but it just kind of felt like background noise to me. It doesn't help that work has just been crazy hectic with the coronavirus either. So many freaking urgent orders had to processed - it was just insane guys.

Anyhoo, back to the book. In it, you will meet Joy and she just landed her dream job in Paris. Seriously, been there and loved it. Unlike her, I didn't practice any French speaking.. mostly because I took Spanish. My mother, however, did speak her "French" and I just kind of pointed and asked for that item. Oh lord, when I said coffee with chocolate the guy at Starbucks just laughed and said "AMERICAN?".

Yeah, it's true and yes I gave him a sassy and sarcastic remark.

Back to the book again, not a lot happened in this book. Yes, it gave me all the smuttiness but that's pretty much it. I can tell you that Joy and Griffin had chemistry but I was just bored with it all. They were perfectly boring on my hectic day. Maybe I need to jazz things up and dive into a murder mystery? Or maybe a Netflix series?

Ugh, send help.
