I really don't know how to rate this... It's just horrific :/
Not only Mary's account of the torture she underwent as a slave, but the style of her story as written to persuade the Victorian public of the truth of her statements. The whole book reads like a witness statement.
This was a really challenging read... the sort of thing everyone should read once (but I never want to read anything like it again....)

my prof warned us abt s/a and there is a mention of it in the book but not explicit. this was mainly abt the physical labor and abuse mary prince went through, how she was treated less than human, and her eventually escape. very educational but idk if i’d recommend it for entertainment.

One of the more interesting slave narratives, I believe, I have read with a captivating story. The narrative contains many of the common aspects found in them. One thing you may consider looking into, along with this, is the Hottentot Venus who was a woman with a very interesting story. My British literature class went over the it with our discussion of this book.
